Welcome to TheTalkingBox's CES updates page!
This is the first year that TheTalkingBox will be covering the events, unveilings, and premieres at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are looking forward to the new product announcements and previews, and have two representatives attending.
You may be new to CES, but it's been around a LONG time! It began in 1967 in New York City, with over 17,000 attendees that first year. From 1978-1994, the show took place twice each year - Las Vegas in January and Chicago in June. The Chicago show began to fade in popularity, and although there were a few attempts to change location and date, the second show was taken out altogether by 1998. This left the annual Vegas convention with the opportunity to become one of the largest trade shows in the country.
What do we expect to see? Well, we'll be focusing primarily on televisions, home entertainment systems, and other electronics and gadgets which could improve your television viewing experience. While we have had plenty of preparation regarding some of the items to debut this week, surprises will definitely be in store. CES is where DVRs were first seen in 1999, where the Xbox was introduced in 2001, and where Blu-ray held its first US press conference in 2004. Last year, tablets, 4G phones, and 3D TVs were the big deal, and we hope you are as excited as we are to find out what will be the talk of the show this year!
