Fall 2014 Network Viewing Schedule

So, now that we've looked at all of the network pick-ups for the 2014-2015 season, how does our nightly schedule look? We have 13 shows to factor in: six in the fall, and seven six later on... plus we have old favorites coming back as well. Of course, this doesn't include the many cable series we adore, but most of their seasons don't run the same way, so there's a variety of overlaps. For now, it looks like we have a total of three Monday series, one on Tuesdays, four Wednesdays, two Thursdays, and a Friday.

New Series:
The McCarthys (Thursdays, 9:30pm, NBC)
Black-ish (Wednesday, 9:30pm, ABC)
Manhattan Love Story (Tuesdays, 8:30pm, ABC)
How to Get Away with Murder (Thursdays, 10pm, ABC)
Red Band Society (Wednesdays, 9pm, FOX)
Scorpion (Mondays, 9pm, CBS)

Returning Series:
The Big Bang Theory Mondays, 8pm (CBS) [later Thursdays]
2 Broke Girls Mondays, 8pm (CBS) [after TBBT moves]
The Middle, Wednesdays 8pm (ABC)
The Goldbergs, Wednesdays, 8:30pm (ABC)

2014-2015 Season: CBS Comedy

People are talking about how NBC is abandoning its Thursday night comedy block, but CBS is doing the same thing to its Monday comedy sequence, which has been in place since Newhart, Kate & Allie, and Designing Women were on the air. I'm actually interested in both of CBS's offerings in this area, and they're both fall premieres, so we won't have to wait too long to see if they're any good, which is nice. I particularly like how they're quite different but both cater to a similar audience, so it will be interesting to compare how they do with viewers.

The McCarthys
Who? Laurie Metcalf (Jackie on Roseanne, Sheldon's mom on The Big Bang Theory), Joey McIntyre (of NKOTB), Kelen Coleman (Lisa on The Newsroom, 
Where? Boston. (and maybe Providence)
What? A family of close-knit sports fans may unravel a bit when one of the adult sons considers moving to Providence. But, Dad dad picks him to be the assistant football coach, so his plans may change.
My Thoughts: I was initially turned off, especially with the gay trademarks in the promotional material. But, the more I learned of the show, I think it might have some interesting chemistry (in an Out of Practice way), so I'll give it a try.

The Odd Couple
Who? Matthew Perry, Thomas Lennon (Max on Sean Saves the World), Wendell Pierce (the boss from last season’s Michael J. Fox Show), Lindsay Sloane (Valerie from Sabrina, The Teenage Witch), Georgia King (Goldie from The New Normal)
Where? It's probably safe to say that it'll take place at 1049 Park Avenue in Manhattan, as did the original.
What? Two friends from college who are now divorced move in together. One is a neat photographer, the other is a sloppy sportswriter. They play poker and date sisters.
My Thoughts: I honestly think it's going to be funny. Matthew Perry has been rather cursed since Friends, so that alone might kill it, but I think the cast is quite intriguing, so I'm looking forward to giving it an honest try.
