Game of Thrones Giveaway!

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

HBO's Game of Thrones fantasy drama series will return in 2012 with the second season, based on the second book. If you didn't know, the first season was based on the first book in the series, which George R. R. Martin published in 1996. Just this past March, the novel became available in paperback, and that's today's giveaway!

This whopper of a book is over 700 pages, and was #1 on the New York Times bestseller list last month. And, since you have a few months before the second season begins, this will give you a chance to enjoy the book that started it all, giving you a better understanding of the brilliance behind the show.

Entering is easy this time - just leave a comment! Share your favorite character from the book or show, your favorite scene, your favorite actor, or even your favorite book in the series if you're caught up! Never heard of Game of Thrones before? That's okay, tell me why you want to read it! You may comment anonymously, but if you choose to do so, please consider leaving a method of contact (like an email address).

This giveaway will run about a week - no entries will be accepted after 11:59pm PT on Saturday, August 20th. A winner will be chosen via random number generator on Sunday, August 21st.

Thanks for entering!

This series makes me love Sundays!Cant wait for 2nd season.

I love Arya Stark, she's so cute and pretty good at acting too!The most interesting scene for me was during she was talking with her father in a room at King's Landing, the scene was so touching.

I am becoming more and more fond of the Imp as time goes on. He chooses to give Bram a saddles that will let him ride again, and save Mrs Stark from being killed, when he could have escaped capture on horses.

I don't know anything about this series except that my brother raves about it every time I see him. So I want to win this for him. Is that okay? :)

Ive watched the first season and loved it yet Im sure the books will go more into detail on the characters. Of those characters Daenerys Targaryen and Jon snow are my favorite. Daenerys because we saw her characer evolve so much during the season and Jon because of the mystery behind the guy. We dont know who his mother is and don really know who he is. As of now hes just the bastard of winterfell or a watcher of the nights watch but we can feel thats theres more to him than that. As for favorite scene it has to be when Khal Drogo gives the 'dragon' his crown.

Unfortunately I do not have HBO so I haven't been able to watch the show - but my supervisor at work always talks about how good the show is. (She loves Peter Dinklage on the show and always raves about his acting.) She's not that huge into epic shows like Game of Thrones appears to be, so I know it has to be something special. And if the show is good, then that can only mean that the book is amazing!

P.S. Thanks for the tweet to let me know this was going on!

My favorite character is Arya Stark because she's brave, smart and focused. I like her attitude. My favorite scene was the first time Arya taught how to use the sword. :)

I think that Peter Dinklage as The Imp, Tyrion Lannister, is one of the best actors on this show. It would be great to read the book as there are so many characters to try and keep straight in this series!

I was directed to this by my daughter, and became thoroughly engrossed. Brilliant production. Kept thinking how one would have survived such a brutal world back then. The little king is due to fall. Shocking turn of events with the young blonde. What a finale. And we have to wait a year? Madness.
