Giveaway: Cupcake Plunger!

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

It's been a bit since we had our last giveaway, but hopefully this one will spark some interest! With Cake Boss: Next Great Baker being all the rage (and one of the more popular topics on this blog - take a look to the left and see how many of the current "what people are reading" articles are related to the show!) and ending soon, I wanted to give away something baking-related. And, this cupcake plunger is the lucky item that you could win!

While I'll admit it's not my favorite way to fill a cupcake, it's a pretty easy kitchen gadget to use. The basic idea is that you put it over the center of a cupcake (already baked), plunge down the trigger to your preferred depth (there are two suggested lines pre-marked), twist out and remove the middle, and push down on the plunger to extract the cupcake. You can then fill and frost, or trim the removed section and add it back on, or create your own way to enjoy your pastry. There are a few YouTube videos with suggested methods as well, so you've got plenty of options!

To Enter: To receive your first entry for this giveaway, you need to comment on this post, answering the question: Who do you think will win this season of Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker? (Hint for those who don't watch the show regularly: the remaining contestants right now are Nadine, a 27-year-old from NYC; Marissa, a 24-year-old from Pompton Lakes, NJ; Ryan, a 30-year-old from Rhode Island. Chad, a 43-year-old from Dallas, was eliminated Monday night.) After that, you will have the opportunity to gain extra entries, by following us on Twitter, liking us on Facebook, or tweeting about this giveaway. Just be sure to click the green buttons so your entries are counted. One winner will be selected at random. You have until 12:01am ET on Sunday, January 29th to enter, and the clock in the below widget should have that countdown there for you. :)

The widget?!? What?!? Yep, we've upgraded to a new way of tracking the entries for our contests and randomly choosing winners, so please give me some feedback as to whether you preferred the old system. I think that this will help you out a lot in earning more than one entry if you desire, but we'll have to see if that's what our readers want! [also, don't be concerned about the "log in" part - if you don't want to go thru your fb/twtter/etc there's an option for just name & email!]

Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I hope that Marissa becomes the Next Great Baker because she knows what she's doing and can see ahead to the overall product. -Jen

I think Marissa will win on the Next Great Baker! She has shown her strength, determination, and leadership skills. When things are down, she takes control and tries to get it back in order. Go Marissa! WhooHoo!! :)
