Favorite Episodes: Grounded for Life

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

Since Miami Medical premiered and I just wrote about it on Friday, I thought it might be fun to go back to Mike Vogel's first television show, Grounded for Life, and feature that (even though he wasn't really a main character for most of the series). I knew of this show in first run, but never watched it until it was running on TBS in the afternoons. I found it to be pretty funny, and enjoyed the atypical storylines, cinematography, and storytelling (often in reverse, etc.). The first season is pretty good, and season 3 is definitely my least-favorite, but overall it's a decent show.

Season 1: "Devil with a Plaid Skirt" (S01E03) Jimmy is faking possession while Lily deals with a dress code violation. Of course, Sean gets out of hand while trying to prove that Lily's skirt isn't shorter than anyone else's.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Season 2: "Baby, You Can't Drive My Car" (S02E01) Lily and Brad steal her parents' car. Sean is upset while Claudia hopes to get a ton of insurance money from it. But when the car shows up again, the Finnerty family is without luck. They even have to buy back their own car parts from Eddie's shady mechanic.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Season 3: "Claudia in Disguise with Glasses" (S03E10) Contacts become a pain so Claudia tries out glasses. But she loses them (when really Sean hid them) and fumbles around, messing up a wedding reception. Meanwhile, Lily convinces Eddie to make Dean get her a great present for her 16th birthday. Plus, they're about to lose their health insurance, so Sean is going nuts trying to get the kids caught up on anything health-related.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Season 4: "Space Camp Oddity" (S04E28) Lily has never believed that Brad had a girlfriend at Space Camp. So, out of spite, Brad goes to space camp for the summer, and proves that Lana exists.
Part 1 Part 2

Season 5: "I'm Looking Through You" (S05E07) Sean has an old friend who is a recovering alcoholic, and also a famous children's performer. Sean promises the school that JJ BodyBuddy will perform at the assembly, but the friend gets drunk and can't perform. So Sean puts on the suit and tries to give a performance... except he doesn't know his anatomy, LoL. Oh, and Lily's getting angry about the upcoming baby taking her parents' attention, so she's practicing her singing to go on tour overseas.
