A few Good Gags on Futurama this Week

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

Futurama
"Fry am the Egg Man" (S06E22):  Leela, Fry, and Bender are hungry while driving home from a delivery, so they grab some drive-thru. [innocent enough to start off with...] Fry thinks he has a heart attack and pops a pez. [hahaha.] Leela has a bone in her "froot," so she doesn't want to eat anything if she doesn't know what's in it and where it's from. [typical reaction in this day and age to a similar situation. Though when I hit a bone in my McNugget, I just swore off McDonald's, nothing else, LoL!] So, they head to a Farmers Market, where Leela picks up a bunch of eggs, among other items. ["scare-oused" was funny.] Fry is upset that the eggs may be fertile, so he tries his hardest to keep one warm... a blue dragon of sorts (turns out to be a Bone Vampire) hatches, which Fry treats as a dog, naming it Mr. Peppy. [Gygaxicon, for those wondering, is from Gary Gygax, the father of role-playing games... most famously, Dungeons & Dragons.] It grows pretty fast... and it turns out it's asexual. [hahaha.] Leela suggests they release it into the wild, so they do... then they stop into a bar where the villagers (who are all named Angus...) aren't happy that a Bone Vampire is back. Leela gets the villagers to wait a few days before killing it, so they stay in a barn. But the next morning they awaken to a bunch of dead sheep... looks like Mr. Peppy is dangerous. It also attacks Leela. Later, it "talks" and, in a classic Scooby-Doo gag, it turns out that a guy from the bar was impersonating Mr. Peppy in order to get some killing action... though both bone vampires did kill. ["I'll think of you whenever I sit on something round" was funny.]
