The Duggars are Back!

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

Is TheTalkingBox truly the only site that recaps these episodes? I know of a few that have discussions about them, but none that offer an individual's interpretation of the show. If you feature it or know of someone who does, please share. All of that said, I still love watching this family, LoL. I know they are beyond quirky and very difficult to believe at times, but I enjoy seeing how they do things. However, my biggest gripe is still that they continuously air things out of order. And they KNOW they do... in the opening seconds of the second episode, Josh mentions "way back before we even had Michael, we went to Niagara Falls." And Michael was born way back around episode 5 last season, and here we are 6-7 episodes later. boo. Also, both of these episodes were fairly boring... the first was pretty much "slice of life" and the second was a small picture of a trip they took. Oh, and are we supposed to believe that the Niagara Falls trip was COMPLETELY SEPARATE from the book tour trip? Because that one went up in that area AND Anna was "just about to deliver" then, too. Hmmmm....

19 Kids and Counting "Duggar Grandson on board" (S08E01): [new opener to include Michael.] Michael was born June 15th, and Josh and Anna are adjusting to having two children. Josh and Anna are still driving the H3. [how? why? grrr.] Michael is 8 pounds, 9.5 ounces at his one-week checkup, which is good because he was 8 pounds 10 ounces at birth. Josh weighs 3360 ounces, so about 210 pounds. [why is he sharing this with everyone? I guess he doesn't know the internet is always calling him porky?] Cousin Amy makes raspberry bars and brings them to Anna. Amy admits that she didn't measure anything and used the wrong pan, but they still ate them. [LoL. Amy is a riot.] The Duggars are working on a garden, and Joseph and John David are in charge. The crew helps with the mulch and plants in the end so they can get more done before nightfall. Josh and Anna got engaged on her 20th birthday, and now she's turning 23. The Duggars have celebrated 236 birthdays since Josh was born. [like I said above... pretty boring episode.]

19 Kids and Counting "Duggars Over the Edge" (S08E02): The Duggars went swimming after the bus was packed for the Niagara Falls trip. The family orders 15-20 pizzas [20? and they're leaving town the next day? I don't believe it. But the community closet is looking much better.] Josie is walking. They drove 20 hours to Niagara Falls and arrived around 2am. They meet up with the Bontrager family (10 kids) and take a school bus with a tour guide toward the Falls. [ew. Michelle is rocking 80s hair again.] The family heads to the Maid of the Mists boat ride. [which was my favorite Niagara attraction.] They then do Cave of the Winds, which is 175 feet below the main ground level that allows people to walk out and see the Falls from another level. [LoL on JimBob not ever being talked to by random strangers but Michelle always is.] Then, JimBob and some of the older kids ride a speedboat while wearing full raingear. The boats (which weren't full) take you near the whirpool. Jana, Jessa, and Michelle took some of the younger kids fishing. [a nice trip for the family to take, but not the most exciting episode.]
