2 Broke Girls: Spring Break in your Neighborhood

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

What's with Oleg and Sophie going at it all of the time? At first it was funny, but now it's just ridiculous and getting old. Hopefully it'll either become more interesting or we'll drop that storyline - which would you prefer? While I wouldn't mind it going away, I do wish that "modelsfallingdown.com" was real. I feel like that could add some laughter to my life in dull moments! Darn Max bringing me down! She keeps herself cheerful, though, even if it's just acting like a snob and saying, "I bring my tiny dog everywhere, so what?" She reminds me of Dalia from Suburgatory in that statement. I gotta say, though, that the dogs only made me miss the girls having a horse...

2 Broke Girls "And the Spring Break" (S01E19): Oleg shows up at Max & Caroline's at 3am to borrow essential oils for himself and Sophie. [I love the idea that the girls are up baking and doing things at 3am. So many shows about twentysomethings have them going to bed before midnight and whatnot and that's complete cr@p. Especially for folks who don't work 9-5 jobs, like these girls.]

At the diner, Caroline and Max talk for whom they've baked before, and the guys offer them $600 to dog-sit for a few days. Max isn't thrilled about taking off work for this, but Caroline (who is upset that their new website isn't generating them any business) convinces her that it's worth it. [they don't need to dog-sit 24/7, why couldn't they have worked?] They pack for a vacation, even through they're only going four blocks away. The place is really nice, and they even have portable saunas. [did those look like they came from Sky Mall to anyone else?] The guys left instructions to squeeze one of the dog's anal glands, so Caroline does. [what a disgusting thing to do! I don't understand people who love pets this much...] There's very little food in the fridge, but they find an invitation to a Food Network party. [YUM!] Max brings the little poodle, but the author of the cookbook being promoted soon confronts her. Mac wins him over as Caroline pretends to be a magazine editor and pass out the cupcake business card to a foodie blogger. [I struggle to pretend I'm someone else, but Caroline does it with such ease and finesse!]

After the party, Max wants to chill with the author at the apartment while Caroline (who has been going by her "vacation name," Ashley, for safety) hits up an after-party and an after-after-party. [such stamina! what time does an after-after-party even start??] Caroline makes plans to go on a private vacation with a shipping magnate she met a a party, hoping to salvage this "vacation," but Max is afraid they'll be abducted. [good point...] The decision is made for them when Caroline gets a message from the foodie blogger, saying that they can bring by four cupcakes ASAP and she'll write about them. [probably a good thing. How would they have filmed a Tahiti scene?] They do a beer-batter-cupcake with bacon, and while the blogger does post about them, we don't learn what was said. [that sucks... I want to know! hopefully we'll pick right up with this next time!]

Oh, and the anal gland thing was actually a joke, so the guys give Caroline an extra $150. [I don't want to think about it anymore, so let's leave it be.]

Cupcakery Savings Total:
$775.00. [yeah, I question that math, too. Allegedly, the $600 only covered them to take off three days of work each. But at $8/hour, how are they hitting $100/day each?]
