Cancellations all Around!

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

ABC canceled Brothers & Sisters, No Ordinary Family, V, Detroit 1-8-7, Better with You, Mr. Sunshine, and Off the Map.

FOX canceled Lie to MeHuman Target, The Chicago Code, Breaking In, and Traffic Light.

Hugh Grant was yet another name that was thrown out to replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. But, Ashton Kutcher got the role in the end!

Jenelle from Teen Mom 2 went to rehab. She may be "clean" and just wanting to get her life together, but who knows.

Matthew Perry is also in rehab. Maybe it's needed because his show got canceled, LoL.

House will move to 9pm on Mondays in the fall, to make room for Terra Nova at 8pm. But, it will be without Cuddy, who chose not sign a less-money-than-previously contract.

Seth MacFarlane is going to reboot The Flintstones. Don't get too excited... we're looking at Fall 2013.

If you want to take a look at everything that was canceled and renewed, try here.

Random Thoughts: Cancellations

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

So maybe this question isn't as random as some of the others that I have posed. But, since there have been many, MANY cancellations this past week (including three shows that appear in the reviews on this site), I thought I might ask which cancellation YOU are most disappointed in. And it doesn't have to be a show that was cancelled just recently - if you were in love with a show that was cancelled earlier in the season, share that one!

Regardless of whether we saw it coming, whether the ratings were bad, or whether it just wore out its welcome, the networks cancelled a ton of shows this year. ABC's cancellations were referred to by many as a "bloodbath," for starters. As the fall lineups roll out (for the major networks. the cable ones have their own thing going on) and pilots get picked up, I'm most upset about Better with You. Although I liked Mr. Sunshine, it had its flaws. My husband was a fan of Lie to Me, of course, and is a bit sad to see it go. I wasn't really into The Paul Reiser Show, so I'm not complaining on that one. Plenty of people are mourning everything from Smallville to All My Children, though those both had long runs. So, what are you sad about? If you haven't been following all of the sources that are covering renewals and cancellations, here's a limited list of shows that have been cut from future lineups...

All My Children
Better with You
Big Love
Brothers & Sisters
The Chicago Code
The Closer
Glory Daze
Human Target
Law & Order: Criminal Intent
Law & Order: Los Angeles
Lie to Me
Medium
Mr. Sunshine
No Ordinary Family
Off the Map
One Life to Live
Outsourced
The Paul Reiser Show
Running Wilde
$#*! My Dad Says

The Simpsons does the Oscars

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

How do you know when you're watching and reviewing too many different television shows? You can't tag all of them because of the character limit. I was going to have to take out Minute to Win It, Wipeout, The Middle, and Teen Mom 2 to be under 200 characters. So, I've decided to split my Friday commentaries into reality shows and scripted shows. I considered splitting by days instead, but ultimately found that this will probably work better. Now, I should clarify that this is a new idea and I may have to play around with it some, but for now, commentaries and reviews will be broken down as follows:
Scripted: The Middle, The Simpsons, Family Guy, House, How I Met Your Mother, Mr. Sunshine, Better with You, Hot in Cleveland, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, South Park, Terra Nova, Futurama, Melissa & Joey

Reality: Minute to Win It, Wipeout, Teen Mom 2, The Unpoppables, Cake Boss19 Kids and Counting, Outrageous Kid Parties, Kate Plus Eight, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant

This breaks it down fairly evenly, and I think that, with the stigma against "reality shows," it may be a little less annoying for those of you only interested in sitcoms and stuff.

Commentaries this week include: The Simpsons, Family GuyHouse, How I Met Your Mother, Mr. Sunshine, The Middle, Better with You, and Hot in Cleveland. If you are interested in any of these, click "keep reading" ... if not, you won't have to scroll forever to get to the next post. :)

Reminder: I am no longer reviewing individual episodes of Kitchen Boss. However,
if you are looking for the recipes, all of them can be found here.

Commentaries this week include:The Unpoppables, Cake Boss, House, How I Met Your Mother, 19 Kids and Counting, Teen Mom 2, Mr. Sunshine, Minute to Win It, The Middle, Better with You, Hot in Cleveland, and Wipeout. I'm also instituting the "jump" feature on Fridays, since these posts tend to be long, and if you're just scrolling around, you might not be interested in scrolling forever, LoL.

Hot in Cleveland is Back!

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

Sunday:

Bridalplasty (S01E08):
[This one actually aired on Monday this week because of the Golden Globes] Jenessa looks like she's in a lot of pain right now. Cheyenne is homesick. She cries to Dominique. Cheyenne saying (to her fiance on the phone) that she doesn't care anymore about how far she's made it gives Kristen a new perspective of her. Christopher Knight and wife show up. Allyson had the playboy issues of Adrian Curry... odd. The blindfolded fiances show up. Kristen's fiance notes that her boobs are squishier when they hugged, LoL. Jenessa's fiance says it's been a month... so, like I suspected, they're probably doing two episodes per week. Money, chores, sex are important conversations. The challenge is lie-detector tests - ten questions each. The couple with the lowest number of lies wins. The two with the most lies are bottom brides. Dominique doesn't have to participate, but her fiance said they would have won anyway, LoL. Everyone watched on a monitor, so it's not secret. Cheyenne goes first. Cheyenne's first answer is a lie, regarding whether she's had doubts about getting married. Her second question is a lie, too. And her third. And her fourth. Cheyenne doesn't think she'll have to do her own laundry, LoL! They have 5 lies. Allyson is next. Allyson gets 2 lies, and both are her fiance's. Kristen got 4, and they belonged to both of them... but Kristen thinks that they did really well. Jenessa lies right off the bat, and they get 3 total. Allyson is top bride so she'll go to the finale and she gets a surgery. Kristen and Cheyenne are the bottom brides. And they're superclose so it kinda sucks that they have to be against each other on this one. Those are some nice Movado watches! Kristen decides to angle for Dominique's vote, and Cheyenne doesn't want to talk herself up. Allyson wants new teeth... she has missing teeth and missing crowns and stuff. She has a lot of decay and infection, so they're taking out the abscesses and stuff and putting on temporaries. The quality of her teeth is so poor! Wow, the new ones look SO GOOD on her! Jenessa talks to Dominique about getting rid of Kristen. Dominique would hate if Cheyenne actually won, since she thinks she's spoiled. Jenessa gives her standard line about hating not being in complete control. Jenessa asks Cheyenne why she should stay, and she says that they deserve it the same, and that's about it. Allyson gets back and Jenessa is pissed that Allyson has ever gotten top bride, let alone twice. Allyson asks Kristen about what's going on, but she knows nothing. She does say that she's hoping Allyson will break the tie and give it to her. She also points out that it's Cheyenne's very first time in the bottom, so she's more of a threat. Kristen tells Cheyenne about her line to Dominique about the homesick thing, and Cheyenne takes it personally and offensively. Jenessa has to reveal her vote first... she calls Cheyenne selfless, and quickly sits with her. Jenessa says to the camera that she and Dominique agreed to vote for Cheyenne, but that almost doesn't make sense with all of the comments about how she had no control. Dominique says that she loves Kristen and that she shines and has great energy and spirit. She then tells Cheyenne that she's beautiful and that it's incredible that she wants the wedding for Scott. Dominique then gets tongue-tied about her thought process and just goes to sit with Cheyenne, leaving Kristen out in the cold. Cheyenne cries. Kristen hugs everyone and leaves, blaming herself for faltering along her way. At this point I'm between Cheyenne and Dominique... I don't want Allyson or Jenessa to win at all, and although I don't like Cheyenne or Dominique all that much either, I'm kinda even with them.

The Simpsons (S22E11):
the ice cream couch gag wasn't that good. "Persia & Mesopotamia" was funny. drinking for fun vs. drinking because of an addiction was amusing. I like how Comic Book Guy has a cousin named Comic Book Gay haha. a dog named Neil Patrick Hairless was funny. Nice trompe l'oeil jokes. 3 weeks of Spring Break and 4 weeks of Christmas Break just to take a girl to the arcade?? hahaha, Skinner! Willie as principal when Skinner takes off is funny. The 1 day vs. 3 months thing was strange.

Family Guy (S09E09): Stewie dressed like a sailor to be seen at church, LoL. Lois vomiting on Stewie severely grossed me out. BILF?!?!?! Julie Andrews and a gun? what? The housekeeper thing was strange. The high school bullying was horrific. "Random background people" was funny. Pariah and Piranha was funny, too. "the burning bush" was inappropriate. ?

Kate Plus Eight (S02Exx): not sure when episode #2 is.

Monday:
Cake Boss: Next Great Baker (S01E07): No Baker's Challenge tonight, we jump straight into the Elimination Challenge. Mauro is a guest judge. They're doing a cake inspired by the new Chevy Cruze. Everyone goes out to look at one. They take turns riding in it a little bit. The person who wins the end will get the car! Everyone is working for themselves and they have 8 hours in one day. Cakes, cereal treats, and ingredients were supplied this time. Megan brought a remote control car, haha. Brian wants a very accurate replica. Dana has modeled 4 cars, Brian has done more than 500. Dana goes with a tire base and a layer of red, white, and blue, and a trophy for champions. Corina wants to go with the driving experience. Jay was confused about that decision. Megan goes BIG. Jay spends 3 and a half hours just sculpting the car! Brian's base is getting out of control. Corina realizes that everyone is having problems. Jay had a time management issue with fondant sticking. Nice ad for Glad ForceFlex bags, LoL. Megan has a car, but I don't know if it's a Chevy Cruze! Brian decides to scrap his base with 90 minutes to go. He goes with styrofoam covered in fondant. Jay hated what he did with the color (silver) and calls himself "cake-whipped." Jay cut and covered his car in 28 minutes, not 4 hours, LoL. He went with more elements. Buddy walks around and talks to people about their process, and he doesn't really have anything positive to say about anything. Jay is still on his car with just 1 hour to go... he has nothing else yet. Everyone sucks and Buddy tells them to bake him something... anything. LoL. He also adds 30 minutes and says they'll be judged on the cakes and the desserts. Jay chooses to make "Lord Have Mercy Bars," which is a graham cracker crust with layers of different chocolates and nuts. Corina goes with pumpkin bread. Dana doesn't think his cake sucks... he goes with a Southern Lemon Cake with fresh strawberries and a cream cheese icing. Megan goes with chocolate chip cookies. Brian is struggling with his fondant tearing, and he realizes that he covered the wrong side! :( Brian covered his base like eight times. He went with snickerdoodle cookies. Jay's cake was a mess. At least it had lights, LoL. Brian burnt his cookies, but with only 5 minutes to go, there's no chance to re-do them. Dana's dessert got great remarks. His cake gets good marks from the Chevy person. Brian's dessert wasn't too good. His cake... doesn't contain any cake at all. Jay's dessert is sweet (a little too sweet), but good. His cake had little comment. Megan's dessert was slightly overbaked, which would make it hard in the long run. Megan's car does move, which was good. Corina's dessert was very good. Her cake got smiles from the Chevy woman, wasn't that clean, and had a good concept. Final Elimination time... Dana got first in cake with his concept and a great dessert as well. Brian's cake being cakeless was problematic. He had the best car, but that was it. Jay's cake didn't make sense, it was crappy and small. Buddy has no positives at all. Megan's dessert was all well and good, but the car didn't have enough likeness, but it did move. Corina's cake was too broad of a concept, leading to poor execution. Buddy announces that Megan will go on to the finale. Buddy talks about Jay's great victories in the past and how today was the choke of the century... he gets sent home. Corina gets to go on, which sends Brian home. Buddy thinks that Corina is a baker first and an artist second, and Brian is the other way around.

House, M.D. (S07E09): House scheming Cuddy once again. Taub on a billboard, haha. House defacing the bus stop was typically awful. Awesome move, Cuddy! Either way she was gonna get House to the dinner, hehe. Racism rears its ugly head once again. I hate how Cuddy's daughter and Taub's wife share the same first name! Banging on a person's back and their ears hurt... that's a new one. hahaha, House has been nice to Jewish women in case they were Cuddy's mom and then she turns out to be a shiksa (a gentile woman who is attracted to a Jewish man). The just looks like an awkward dinner, LoL. "I didn't read any studies, I just raised children." The "will you convert to Judaism" question was amusing. "I just don't want Rachel growing up thinking you're a slut," hahahahaha. He sedated her! awesome! And Wilson, too!! haha, Cuddy's mom thought that she was drunk and went to bed, hahaha. I wasn't thrilled with Cuddy's mom's remark about children being horrible and always getting her sick. Does anyone believe that there's something that Wilson would never forgive House for?? Interesting ending with the paint balloons. Even more interesting was House's attempt to spend some time alone at any cost.

How I Met Your Mother (S06E14): Wow, the whole gang went to Minnesota for Marshall's dad's funeral. Wow that's a lot of ways to get injured in the cajones, LoL. WOW Robin's prepared! I was getting goosebumps from the nice things that everyone said about their last words with Marshall's dad, and then the stupid little punk said mean things. The Koreans thing was amusing. How does Marshall keep mis-remembering his dad's last words to him? That's a quick-charging phone! who calls it "juice" LoL? Why did Lily take the blame for Robin? cheese, mayonnaise, and jellybeans??? "nothing beats the immediacy of live theatre." Marshall's dad's last words after the pocket dial made me cry. "that dress makes you look like a Kansas City whore." Robin pulling out Crocodile Dundee III was great. Why is Marshall's parents' house so formal-looking? I liked Barney calling his mom at the end and telling her that he was ready to meet his dad.

Tuesday:
Teen Mom 2 (S01E02):
Jenelle: she's been away from her baby for a week. Her mom was kinda a b!tch about telling Jenelle she's not going to have money for a lawyer. "The only drug I use is marijuana... and I don't use it that much." $200/hour, 15-100 hours, plus $5,000 retainer. She then calls her mom and says she wants to go home. She was hoping that her mom would drop the custody battle too, but it doesn't look that way.
Kailyn: horrible cursing in front of the baby. She goes out on a date. One of her friends suggests she go public by saying on facebook that she's "in a relationship." Jo's parents find out fast and give her the third degree about it. Jo's mom accuses her of not caring about her kid, and the dad suggests that she just can't be alone. The dad says she's starting new problems. Jo says that it's disrespectful for her to bring the baby around other guys, and she better not do that. She does not admit that she already has.
Chelsea: ewww... who drinks out of a 2-liter bottle??!? She misses Adam. Her dad reminds her that if she doesn't take school seriously, she'll lose his support. Adam comes to see Aubree.
Leah: she decides to take Ali to the doctor because her legs aren't the same at Aleeah. She wanted to start nursing classes (her mom's a nurse, too), but with Ali's heath issues, she put it off. Corey's parents go with her to take the girls to the doctor. Her arms are disproportionate and there's a nerve problem... she needs an MRI. She has no bone issues, but perhaps a spinal issue. I didn't like Leah's nails. Leah is crying a lot and Corey and she agree that they need to stop arguing... there's too much going on. Corey reminds her that she has to be strong.

Wednesday:
Minute to Win It (S02E20): Random Pairing. Michelle and Derald. Overall, I thought it was a little early in the show's lifetime to show "favorite moments." The joke about trips was good.
Game 1: Sticky Balls: roll marbles across a flat surface to get them to stick on a strip of tape. Michelle goes for it (her sister in the audience tells her to, LoL). Her first five or so miss, then she gets one, then a bunch more miss, then 2, 3, 4, and 5 all come in a row.
Game 2: Spin Doctor: Team Game. One spins a dollar coin, it has to spin across a line, then the other person has to stop it upright. Derald gives a quick direction or two, then Michelle starts spinning. Derald knocks down the first few, but gets it with 23 spare seconds.
Game 3: Tweeze Me: There's an upright tennis racket and there's a tennis ball balanced on top. Get a mint (like a tic-tac) through a marked hole in the racket so it lands on a cup on the other side, but don't knock off the tennis ball. You have 5 attempts and you only have to do it once.haha, Derald wanted to show how shaky they were, but she thought he wanted her to go, but he covers. Michelle gets one through but it misses the cup, so does the second. The third stays in, 18 seconds to go.
Game 4: Office Dominoes: Team Game, as they're both doing it, but in separate instances. Balance 10 reams of paper so that when you knock them over, they ring a bell. Both look pretty good in setup, but I trust Michelle's a little more. Both get it, 6 seconds to go.
Game 5: Triple Pong Plop: Team Game here since they're both trying to get to the 4 total. Bounce ping-pong balls across 3 11" dinner plates and into a fishbowl of water. Get four in. Derald gets close, then they both get it, next thing you know, it's over and there's still 44 seconds remaining!
Game 6: Pop Top: Flick bottlecaps off the ends of a round table into a glass that's in the middle. There are 48 around the table. Derald says he grew up playing this "as a guy" so he goes for it. He gets it on the first try, so 57 seconds to go, haha!! This is the "FASTEST WIN EVER" and everyone is ecstatic.
Game 7: Breakfast Scramble: Team Game. 16 squares are on a table... they make a puzzle. You don't even know what it looks like ahead of time, but you know it's a cereal. They talk strategy. It's the Frosted Flakes box and they're going strong at halfway. I got frustrated when they had a piece from the bottom row rotated 180 degrees for the longest time! They get it with one second to go.
Game 8: Oh-Nuts: 8 nut-and-bolt pairings on a ruler, you have to stack a tower. Don't let it fall. Derald goes for it. Michelle tells him to have a steady hand. He's kinda slow... he was out of time and tried to rush and fell. He tried to get her to do it the next time, and she flat-out refused, claiming that he knows what he's doing now. He goes again and has a much better start. A little sloppier but not too bad. It falls at 32 seconds. She looks upset. They have one life left, but he can't play because of the 3-plays rule. So Michelle has to go. She goes WAY too slowly and ends up knocking it over with 3 or 4 more to stack and only a second anyway.

Better With You (S01E13): [Episode 12 got overrode last week because of President Obama's speech. Not sure how they'll work on when this will air...]
Episode 13: MISSED THE FIRST NINE MINUTES OR SO. I like how the parents are trying to win godparent status by taking the cat, while Maddie and Ben take an infant CPR class. Maddie asking questions and getting kicked out was funny. I'm actually surprised that Joel has an interest in being a guardian. I like how careless they're being with the cat, tho. Mia getting kicked out because she's Maddie's sister was funny. Mr. Meowgi was a cute name for a cat. I love that the parents can't even remember what color the cat was. I adored the "telling of grievances" between Maddie and her parents... very Friends. 4 guardians??!?!? hahaha, stealing a cat! haha, they're not the actual guardians, and Mia and Casey aren't worried about it because by the time the others find out, they'll be dead. "we saved nine" was funny.

Hot in Cleveland (S02E01): I loved Elka with the harmonica in jail. Mary Tyler Moore was her cellmate, haha! Elka insulting the judge was funny. "talking more" punishes a man, haha. "people are plucking their own brows? Are we living in a third world country now?" LoL! "you're not even that famous," LoL. "in Cleveland they're called 'garage sales,'" haha. Joy needs a greencard so Rick automatically proposes. Rick's "balls" comment was odd. "call us 'miss' to the day we die." hahaha, Joy gets locked up for announcing that she sold drugs to the mailman in front of cops. So she totally may get deported now. Apparently she got arrested for shoplifting earlier in life. Victoria wanting to choose her Botox over getting Joy out of jail was strange. Rick is also the name of Victoria's agent?? Why do we recycle names like this?? Rick (the Wayne Knight one) sells some balls to donate the money to the girls. Turns out, Elka gave him his first ball so he felt like he owed her. There's also the possibility that Rick meant sex... Joy tries to accept Rick's proposal, but Rick makes her get down on one knee and ask him this time. The tornado was still just the night before?? A final thought: I feel like this episode ran fast.. like extra commercials or something.

Retired at 35 (S01E01):
I wasn't really planning on watching this show. But, for some reason, a day or two before the premiere, I just up and decided to add it to my DVR. I think I had seen a commercial that pushed me off the fence, LoL. "they still think that cell phones have harmful rays," LoL. "it's like college in slow motion," haha. "all food-related wood," haha. "I should have thumb-wrestled him, my thumbs are huge from texting." I like all of the "wrong words" for technology, like "tittering" and "facialbook." The dad not caring that the mom went to Portugal was odd. Sleeping with an old woman was weird. The woman's daughter being the waitress at the bar was problematic. I gotta say, I'm not thrilled with this show, and the scenes-from-the-next were only worse. I'll try it again, but I don't see it lasting.

Thursday:
Wipeout (S04E03):
The qualifier course looks a little more difficult than last week, but otherwise it's pretty much the same. The "blind librarian" had a funny course. CreepyRobert (who does a Golem voice) had a nice wipeout on that first obstacle. "safety third" was weird. Man, Ballsy has great aim with those snowballs!! Art History girl had a great wipeout, too! It also looks like they're cleaning off the big balls more often, since they don't have as much mud on them with each new person going at them. Oatmeal Girl got beat-up on the log jammer! Next is the ski lift, the one where everyone stands on rotating platforms and hangs onto an overhead handlebar to pull themselves up as necessary to avoid sweeper arms. The hats over the helmets didn't look as cool or fitted this week. Oatmeal Girl was getting flown around! Some Dancer Boy gets the $1,000. Third Round is the W-I-P-E-O-U-T level, with different obstacles on each letter. Riding the sweeper arm all the way around was funny. CreepyRobert snuck past DangerDan to get into the finale. The Wipeout Zone features the stairs, the icicle sweeper thing, and the sinister snowflakes. You start with the bobsled launcher. CreepyRobert goes first. It's snowing kinda hard to start off. He falls off the second set of stairs. Then he falls off the middle stairs. There's also pink goo out tonight. He falls off the icicle sweepers, then falls again when he tries to get off this obstacle. He slips off the first sinister snowflake. He makes it on the second try, finishing at 10:28. He must be a pretty fast swimmer, really. RocketScientist is next. He falls on one of the last stairs... it looked like he was just going too fast. On his second attempt he falls backward on one of the last sets of stairs. He falls off the icicle sweepers pretty quickly. He almost made it across the sinister snowflakes but falls getting to the platform. He then falls face-first on his second try, again on the second snowflake. He then makes it, finishing at 9:38. Jacob the Dancer is last. He falls off the top/middle stair, which is a two-story drop. He struggled HARD to stay on the final stair on his second attempt, but he makes it. He had too much speed coming off the sweeper, but luckily he got both feet on the platform before he went careening into the water. He makes the snowflakes in his first attempt, finishing with a miraculous time of just 3:46!!!! You know, I thought about it... it would be cool if they picked 3 or 5 wipeouts from each episode and we could vote on our favorites the day after each episode airs or something.

Should I ever finish this series, I'll do a "favorites" from each of its two seasons.)

3 Weeks of Commentary...

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

Sunday:

Bridalplasty (S01E04, S01E05, S01E06):
Why is Alexandra always wearing shirts that show her midriff?? Alexandra is trying to form an alliance with everyone who isn't in Jenessa's group. Kristen's boobs are much bigger, but they don't look symmetrical, LoL. Her breasts are gurgling. Internal splints in the nose looked gross. She said it was really painful to have the splints and cast removed. She didn't get to see her nose before it got taped again and discharged. Everyone is looking at Kristen's boobs, and Janessa is showing hers to people, too. Allyson is a diabetic. Hansen's Cakes is the next location. Everyone tries two different cakes, one is low-quality and one is Hansen's. Jenessa wants buttercream. The girls each received a tiny cake to put in their closets. The girls were all seated at a table with dividers so they couldn't see anyone else. Kristen was on medical leave and didn't need to participate. 5 rounds - each course has 2 items - one high-quality and one low-quality. Pick the high quality item. Cheyenne looks worried. Allyson tucked her napkin into her shirt like a bib, LoL. First course is champagne... $3 bottle versus $400 bottle. Jenessa thinks she's classier than some of the other girls. The white is the right choice, Jenessa, Dominique, Cheyenne, Alexandra got it right. Pate fois gras versus liverwurst is round 2. Cheyenne is upset because she can't really smell and she's at a disadvantage. Cheyenne didn't seem clear on how many senses a person has, LoL. For this round, Jenessa, Lisa Marie, Dominique, Cheyenne, and Alexandra all got this one right. Round 3 is wine - Port from France, $350/bottle or jug wine $4/bottle with some dirt in it. Lisa Marie, Melissa, Allyson, Cheyenne, Alexandra, and Cheyenne all get it right - which means Jenessa got it wrong, and Netty got it wrong (which keeps her at 0). Lisa Marie downed the good wine, LoL. Round 4 is Alaskan King Cra, the other is imitation krab. Allyson, Jenessa, Cheyenne, Alexandra, and Dominique get it correct (Netty still at 0). Course 5 is 100% Kobe beef versus discount chuck - which burger is the best? Netty gets this one right, along with Melissa, Allyson, Jenessa, Alexandra, and Dominique. Alexandra and Dominique are tied for first - 5 pieces of cake for the tie-breaker... Hansen's, Store-bought, homemade, child-made, and stale cake are the categories... match each cake with the correct label. All are chocolate. Jenessa wants Dominique to lose so she can vote, LoL. Both struggle, Alexandra finished first but is incorrect. Dominique gets it right on her first try. Jenessa is pissed that Dominique won it, thinking Dominique should have thrown it. Lisa Marie, Melissa, and Netty are the bottom brides, which sucks since two are in the same alliance, LoL. Alexandra and Kristen think Melissa should be out. Alexandra is voting for Netty, Kristen for Lisa Marie. Jenessa has taken to whispering, LoL. Dominique is getting her nose done. Narrowing tip, broken bone, lots of blood, splints, more blood. Lisa Marie goes to talk to Kristen, and she tells LM that they want her and Netty. Kristen thinks LM has been brainwashed by "the alliance" hahaha. Jenessa is lobbying HARD for Melissa to Kristen, but Kristen doesn't buy it. The Alliance comes to see Dominique, and Kristen states aloud that her vote has been confirmed. Jenessa tells Melissa she has to get to know the others, or they're not gonna get why she wants to be there. Melissa connected with Alex, and thinks that she's got that vote, but I think Alex wants Melissa out, regardless. Alex did tell her that now that she's opened up, she feels closer, but I don't think that's gonna do it, LoL. Jenessa tells Alex that if it came to Melissa and Alex, she'd vote for Alex... but I don't trust her for a second. To me, that proves she's a double-crosser on top of everything else, LoL. Alex is thinking of joining forces with Jenessa!!! ahhhhh!!! She TRUSTS that slimeball!! Here we go... Jenessa goes first and really patronizes Melissa, voting for her. Kristen goes with Lisa Marie. Cheyenne goes with Netty (who is rocking the straight hair tonight). Allyson goes Lisa Marie, officially saving her. Alexandra plays honestly and sits with Netty, sending Melissa home. She keeps a smile on her face and talks about going home to see her man. Previews show Jenessa trying to mess with Cheyenne and Kristen, and is totally trying to get Alexandra taken out.

Dominique is really swollen. Kristen gets released from the recovery room. She thinks people will be against her because she's gotten a surgery. Dr. Sadie Allison is there, who is a "pleasure coach." Everyone has to say what they're the worst at in bed. Dominique says longevity. Jenessa says redundancy. Then they say what they're rock stars at. Kristen says blow jobs. Allyson says flexibility. Cheyenne wants to stay quiet about her intimacy, and to Netty that means she's a closet freak, LoL. Allyson is excited since she didn't think there would be a honeymoon in her future at all, except maybe a local motel. There are 7 girls. Dominique is on medical leave. They need to be in two groups of 3 and one person by themselves. They decide to draw a name for the odd-person, and it's Lisa Marie. Jenessa says Kristen and Cheyenne should be on opposite teams because they're both good competitors. Jenessa gets with Cheyenne. Netty gets with Kristen. Alex joins Kristen and Netty. Allyson joins Cheyenne and Jenessa. Lisa Marie can't be a top bride, but she also gets to decide who gets to be top bride from the winning team. The challenge is to have one communicator and two handlers. Verbally describe the image to the handlers to get it accurate. 8 different positions, first to get 7 of them. Kristen and Cheyenne are the communicators to avoid injury. #1 Sporting of a Sparrow. #2 Like a Lotus. #3 The Mare. #4 Pair of Tongs. #5 Fixing of the Nail. #6 The Crab. #7 Splitting of a Bamboo. Team Kristen gets an early lead. But by #6, it's about even. Cheyenne's team wins in the end. Each of those three girls gets to plead a case for Lisa Marie to pick them. Allyson claims money woes. Cheyenne wants veneers re-done, but she says she'd rather LM pick another of the girls. Jenessa talks about her nose, but then suggests Allyson. Jenessa thinks this "good deed" will make her have a better reputation in the house. LM picks Allyson, and she's happy. Jenessa immediately starts playing defense. Alex thinks it's good that Jenessa and Kristen's fight will work in her own advantage, LoL. Allyson gets her arms lipsuctioned, and also gets her cheeks and chin done, too, for some reason. OMG they went inside her mouth to get out cheek fat! Kristen "goes out on a limb" to apologize to Jenessa. Jenessa plays anti-Alex at this point. Jenessa makes Kristen believe that Alex is the true evil one. LM keeps her mouth shut, but she could've said anything else. Cheyenne packed up her stuff and moved to another room. Alex tries to guilt Kristen into telling her the scoop, but it doesn't work. Jenessa tells Alex that she and Dominique are voting for her. Kristen is forced to trust Jenessa, too. Netty really sat around and was quiet and and figured that she'd be fine. I liked Kristen's dress - white with black ruffles - (and matching headband!!) during the RSVP ceremony. Cheyenne says that Alex stepped on her, says she and Kristen will always be friends, and sits with Netty. Kristen is dumbfounded. Lisa Marie says Kristen is emotional and ends up sitting with Netty, too. Kristen feels out of the loop. Dominique, whose vote was promised to Alex, sits with Netty. This means it comes down to Jenessa, who calls Kristen a strong competitor and says she's Alex's MENTOR! She says she manipulated Alex, and sits with Kristen! Allyson thought that the elimination was ruthless. Alex has nothing to say to anyone, and she leaves without getting any surgeries. Jenessa says that Kristen is next on her list, haha.

Allyson sees her arms (tho still very swollen). Dominique finally sees her new nose. She has to wear tape for another week. A gigantic flower arrangement arrives. The girls take off for LA Premier Flowers on Rodeo Drive. Kevin is a celebrity floral designer, and wore REALLY snug pants. He talks about different flowers and arrangements. The girls all get mini-bouquets. "Brutus needs to become Olive Oyl" was an odd phrase by Lisa Marie. Giuliana Rancic is at the house, and although I didn't know who she was, the girls at the house seemed excited. They get 30 minutes to design and construct a perfect bridal bouquet. They get tons of options. Appearance, personal style, and durability are the categories for judging. Allyson has a bye. There will be one top bride and two bottom brides. Kristen wants big, feathers, and sparkly. Dominique goes for bling, sprakle, and purple hydrangea. At ten minutes left, Netty and Lisa Marie look furthest behind. Netty is frustrated that Lisa Marie won't leave her alone. Judging time... Netty is first, and she says she loves hers. "Too many flowers, bling, feathers... a hot mess... too much of everything" and she gets a 5. Cheyenne is next, she gets complimented on the shape, but it's childish. She gets a 7. Dominique's is too big and too "Dolly Parton-country" and cheap" and she gets a 6. Lisa Marie's is a "disaster, dead flowers, hideous" and she gets a 2. Kristen is next. "The feathers are too much and in the wrong place" and she gets an 8, surprisingly! Jenessa's... Giuliana likes it the best out of all of them. Kevin says it's perfect, and gives her a 9. I was kinda bored that yet another person got a nose job. This puts Lisa Marie and Netty in the bottom... and they've both been in the bottom before. Neither are threats, so I didn't anticipate a lot of drama. Allyson has LM's back. Dominique asks Lisa Marie straight-up what she feels, and LM is kinda bland. Once LM realizes she doesn't have Dominique's vote for sure, she decides to start going after votes on her own. Jenessa didn't even use the wheelchair, LoL. Jenessa almost immediately asks Allyson who she's voting for. Allyson doesn't want to tell her, but ends up saying Lisa Marie. Jenessa tries to play the fact that she can't vote, but in reality she gets the deciding vote in a tie, so you can't trust her regardless, LoL. LM plays the acne card from 5th and 6th grade... I don't think it got her anywhere, except maybe with Dominique, who wants counsel from Jenessa. I wonder how many outfits they needed to bring to do this show! LoL!! Netty believes that she's "more worthy" of the wedding than Lisa Marie. Allyson goes Lisa Marie, as expected. Cheyenne goes with Netty, claiming that she wanted to vote for the hardest worker. Kristen goes with Netty, and says to the camera that she knew all along who she'd vote for. Dominique says that LM doesn't want it bad enough, yet sits with her (saying that she sticks with those who stick with her). Jenessa is shocked about Dominique's words right up until she sits with LM. Jenessa sat with Lisa Marie. Netty is upset because Lisa Marie is the only person she could lose to without pride. Personally, I'm really getting intrigued with who is going to pull it out in the end!

Monday:
Cake Boss: Next Great Baker (S01E03, S01E04, S01E05): The Christmas episode was cool. They're at Hudson County Community College. Relay-race style baker's challenge - Buddy does it all in 5 minutes!! Trim, fill, stack cakes. Ice in buttercream, place on board. Pipe decorative details. Make roses and write "Merry Christmas." Teams are boys vs. girls. Jay vs. Pam: Pam was cocky about being faster than Buddy. Corina vs. Brian: Brian was a MESS! He doesn't know the bag method. Corina messed up the cake when moving it. Brian's cake falls apart so that team starts over. So then Brian cuts. Then Jay, then Dana. Greggy never gets to go since the other team already finished. The girls don't get anything for winning. The elimination challenge - Christmas-themed cakes for the dean of the community college. Two rules: it has to be 3 feet high, and it has got to be CHRISTMAS. They get 11 hours over two days. Megan and Corina design. Jay designs a crazy tree idea. Brian wants something more traditional. Megan makes bricks. Corina does the presents, candy canes. Pam builds the base. Dana does some cool snowflakes. Brian does the structure. wood vs. foam argument.... Brian vs. Jay. Joanna stacks. It's looking rough, and the boys think that the other cake will fall. Pam and Corina are butting heads. Dana does pulled sugar with Brian's lights. 5:59:50 - stop the clock. Cooking challenge! Each team must cook a Sunday Italian dinner, and it has to be done with the cake in time for the party... for 50 people! George from Hunt's comes with ingredients and is a guest judge. Corina gets on dinner and makes a bolognese sauce. Dana goes for the dinner as well, since he's a professional chef. He does chicken primavera, torn lasagna, and shrimp fra diavolo. Megan is worried about Pam's work taking so long. The boy's cake is looking great! Dana tries to blow sugar balls. Jay loves it. Girls have some chimney trim that starts falling. The girls' cake starts sliding badly. Dana helps the girls move the cake and they make it just in time. Megan makes a good point that the boys' cake looks more "Winter Wonderland" than Christmas. People love Dana's recipes - he cooked on the fly! "3 nice, distinct flavors" for Dana; "good" for Corina. The girls get great marks for the color scheme but low marks for the structure. The boys get great on technique and lights, but low marks because the gree isn't green. The girls' dinner was a little dry, needed more tomatoes. The girls' cake was a great concept, but poor finish. The boys' food tasted like it was done by a chef! The boys' cake had great ornaments and lights, not a great color scheme. Greggy chose it, and mentions "winter wonderland" and Buddy says nothing "popped." The sugar work shows great range. Overall, the boys won. Dana was the strongest of the team. Guys all won some Hunts tomatoes and $10,000 to split, which Buddy offers just to Dana, but Dana wants to share it with the team. Pam says Corina tried to make the others look bad. Corina says she focused on the project. She said Pam talks trash behind others' backs. Pam says she was too affected by drama. Joanna thought cardboard was enough and it wasn't. She cries, says she doesn't want to quit. Megan says Joanna was weakest, Corina says Pam. Pam says Joana. Joana goes home. She just kept saying "I've never built a cake of this size, this was good for a first time."

The Special Effects episode was okay, too. Carlo's goes through thousands of eggs a day! The baker's challenge is speed & accuracy. First, crack 2 dozen eggs. Takes even the fastest person 2 and a half minutes. Second, roll out a piecrust. Pam and Corina finished first around the 6:50 mark. Megan and Brian were last (Brian had never rolled out a pie crust before, so it tore 3 times, LoL). Third, make a modeling chocolate flower. Megan surprisingly finishes first, then Corina, then Pam. Brian was last. Winner picks teams. Megan picks Dana, Brian, and Jay. Jay is really excited about the group. Pam doesn't enjoy working with Corina. Corina is pissed she has to work with Pam again. Megan has to go to the other team! But she gets immunity. Frankie is the guest judge. The cake needs to be 3 feet tall and have special effects. The client is 45 minutes away, and they have to travel with the cake to the people who own the special effects house. Megan says she and Pam don't communicate well. Electrical engineering isn't mechanical, Pam! Grain alcohol in a tube of compressed air... push it. But the cap is leaking and Brian burns his hand badly. It blisters immediately. Brian puts gauze on it and a glove and continues. Jay, Brian, and Dana agree on their vision. Day 2: Pam says no testing, it's a 1-shot deal and they can't test their effects. Pam didn't really work with the team. She didn't communicate her work plan. The motor from the airbrush falls on Megan's foot, and her ankle is killing her. They call an ambulance. 5.5 foot high cake has a solid steel pipe. It's a TNT cake. Brian hits the wall hard when the truck braked. How did the circus cake get there first when the TNT cake left first?? Judges think the TNT cake is too firework-y, but the circus cake doesn't fit at all. Brian wears safety goggle to do the special effects. The effects don't go off. Nothing. They get called the 3 stooges. They have no idea what happened. On the circus cake, everyone wears goggles. The smoke goes off on one side. Nothing else goes off. BOTH teams FAILED. The circus cake loses worse and gets blown up. Dana called it "the girls' cake" even tho Greggy is on that team, LoL. Buddy gets the other cake blown up, too. He says there's no winner so anyone can go home. Megan has a deep bone bruise, but she can work the next day. The TNT cake was nicely done, and had a good design. The circus cake was shoddy, not themed appropriately. Pam was in charge of mounting the effects, and has no idea what went wrong. Brian takes responsibility for the pyrotechnics for the other cake. Dana and Jay are safe. Everyone says Pam isn't a team player. Palm says they have their opinions and that she put forth an effort. Megan is safe, then Corina, then Greggy. It's down to Pam and Brian. Pam is sent home because Buddy doesn't know if she's a team player. Brian gets ONE more chance, and he's told that he can't keep promising and not deliver. He needs to focus on cakes now, not effects. Pam says it's amazing that she made it this far and that she's going to prove herself to the world.

We're halfway through the competition! Today's Baker's Challenge is speed, accuracy, and creativity. Fondant layers from scratch. A layer cake covered in buttercream, covered in fondant, make a bow and some other decorations. Buddy's example is in pink, for Greggy, LoL. The group gets 30 minutes to do it. The cakes are already filled and stacked, they start at the buttercream/dirty-ice layer. Dana goes the basket-weave all over. 7 minutes to go, Jay is goes for draping, but he ends up modifying his plan. Brian finishes first. Dana almost runs out of time to finish his basket weave. Megan's bow was bad, and could have used more color, but she had a nice rope detail. The worst was Dana's, since the basket weave in the same color as the rest of the cake was odd. The bow wasn't ideal. Corina had a great splash of different color, and the little balls around the bottom were good. The best cake was Jay, it had great balance and color. Corina and Jay pick teams for the next challenge, and Jay chooses first. He picks Megan (she's smart) and Greggy. Corina chooses Dana and gets Brian. I thought it was interesting that the two worst cake people today got picked first, haha. Buddy's sister Grace and his wife Lisa are the guest judges today. Today's client is Buddy's son, who turns six years old the next day. The theme is outer space - stars, planets, aliens, big imagination. The kid likes blue, chocolate and vanilla, sweet frosting, and that's it for info. They get 11 hours over two days. Brian's hand is still bandaged, but Megan seems okay. Brian thinks "rocket ship." Moon is the base, and will be texturized. Rocket comes out, and the planets will be around it. We get some background on Brian's past. The other team wants minimal planets. Moon base, big sun, Mars, the Earth, and a UFO. Corina is nervous about Brian's effects ideas. Greggy had never done a sphere out of cereal treats before. Dana forgot to add in high-ratio-shortening, but he realized it just after the batter went into the oven, so he adds it in. Brian cuts himself when he's trimming the rocket. Greggy uses the words "fabu" and "totes." Greggy has been designing cakes for ten years. He wants an urban cake boutique. Brian uses royal icing with his hands, and it looks really textured. Jay LOVES Brian's moon. Greggy's Earth is cracking. Mars cracked a little. I don't understand why Mars is closer to the Earth than the Sun. The string isn't holding the other team's planets very well. Dana made a funny reference to treating the string as delicately as you'd treat a woman. They go to Plan B: skewers instead of hanging. The other team takes off Earth, Greggy panics, Jay keeps it together, and they add on a different piece. Corina is worried that Brian's effects won't work. The astronaut is spinning correctly. Greggy's team has 4 minutes left to roll another piece of fondant since one of the layers cracked again, because of shortening. At one minute, Greggy has to airbrush still! Dana makes a cute comment about championships being won in seconds. Buddy Jr. runs in to look at the cakes. Taste for Megan's team: vanilla should be lighter. Decoration: plus for the sun and the spinning, likes the spaceship. Taste for Corina's team: horrible chocolate (shortening problem possible problem). Decoration: likes the planets, the astronaut spinning on top. Overall, awesome design for Megan's cake, but the upper pieces were non-descript. Overall, Corina's cake sucked in the chocolate department, but the design was lovable, very animated. Moon texture was great. The "6" in lights was cool. Buddy gives Dana the benefit of the doubt on the chocolate cake. Corina, Dana, and Brian win and it's apparently a blow-out, though I thought it was a little closer. Buddy asks who is responsible for the cake failing... Jay blames Greggy for the Earth. Megan says Greggy for structural design. Greggy starts to get upset, and he gets sent home. Buddy says that Jay wasn't a great leader, and he'll have to be better. He tells Megan that she's going downhill. Greggy blames the cereal treats, since he knows cake better. He uses "fabu" one more time.

House, M.D. (S07Exx): no episode this week. #9 on the 17th.

How I Met Your Mother (S06E13): Lily and Marshall at the doctor's office just a week into trying was hilarious! Doing it "in the waiting room" was funny. I liked "I'm absolutely not playing laser tag" as proving Ted wants to do it less than Marshall. "Secretary beauty pageant" was funny, and I didn't catch it until the third time I watched the episode! Marshall yanking on the beard was funny. "scoot up" and "suit up" was funny. Robin's old co-host being her boss is funny. Marshall realizing that he could be the problem was done well. hahahahaha on the "I'd give my first born not to be able to have children" comment. Poor Robin, being teased continuously. Barney using laser tag to give bad news was funny, too. Marshall being haunted by others who have given sperm samples in that bathroom was funny. I love that the office calls her "Sparkles," LoL. Barney really impersonating the doctor was crazy. I think that having Marshall's dad die was ridiculous. I couldn't believe that was how they ended the episode! Overall, the countdown was strange. Some of them made a lot of sense.... some made no sense at all.

Tuesday:
Minute to Win It (S02E17 & S02E18): This is the third of the three holiday-themed episodes. It's also for $3 million with 12 challenges, for the 12 Days of Christmas. New contestants: Lindsey and Josh from Ohio. They've been dating for four years.
Game 1: Wreath Relay: sticking your heads into a wreath, alternating to get it from one end of the stage to the other. They get it in about half the allotted time.
Game 2: Holiday Hustle: Each has a yard stick attached to their waists and they need to move so that a spool of ribbon gets undone from one stick and onto the other. Lindsey moves a lot more than Josh, and they are doing great until they get near the end, when the ribbon is really tight. With three seconds to go, they finish.
Game 3: (Holiday Bonus) Holiday Kiss: Team game AGAIN! This time, using the pressure of their lips, they have to transfer an ornament from one string to another 3 times (out of 5 ornaments). The strings are about eight or ten feet apart. They have a real strategy and finish with no errors and 17 seconds to go. Their Holiday Bonus is Extra 10 Seconds.
Game 4: Face the Gingerbread Man: Put a gingerbread man on your forehead and get it into your mouth twice in sixty seconds. Josh goes for it. He gets the first one with 43 seconds to go. He drops the second at the 23-second-remaining mark, and drops the third, the fourth, the fifth, and the sixth before running out of time. He goes again. This time he gets the first one with 53 seconds to go and the second with 41 seconds to go!
Game 5: Christmas Jingle: Eleven water-filled glasses are on a table and you have to put them in order so that the first line or so of "Jingle Bells" is played when hit with spoons. Lindsey goes for it, with a method I didn't quite get. She struggles with the second half of the song. She's not even close at 10 seconds to go, and time runs out. Her mom reveals that Lindsey knows hoe to play music. Josh's brother suggests they use the extra 10 seconds at this point. They decide to use it. On her second attempt, her method made a little more sense to me. She gets it with 18 seconds to go.
*~*~*~*~*~* TIME OUT FOR A PROPOSAL *~*~*~*~*~* She says YES *~*~*~*~*
Game 6: (Holiday Bonus) Deck the Balls: Using wrapping paper rolls as straws, suck an ornament, transfer it to your partner, then hand it on a string. Do it three times. Josh pulls them from the bowl, Lindsey puts them on the string. The get it pretty freaking fast!! Holiday Bonus = Extra Life! Just what they wanted, LoL.
Game 7: Caddy Stack: Stack 3 golf balls for 3 seconds. Josh goes for it, and is shaking a little. He gets the first one on in ten seconds, and the second is done in another 5!
Game 8 (Holiday Bonus) Lollipop: This is that one where you stand a straw on its end, pick up a stack of three nuts and a ball, then get the ball to stay on the top while you slide down the nuts to the bottom of the straw. You have five chances to get three. Josh goes for it, is still kinda shaky, and messes them all up. Josh went again. He got the first one. He messed up the second one. By that point he had 10 seconds left, so he didn't make it.

Chelsea and Alia are friends who are bartenders. Chelsea is in blue, Alia is in pink. Chelsea wants to help her parents' business, Alia wants to move her mom across the country to live near her. We're back to 10 challenges for $1,000,000. Phone call with Alia's mom. And then she shows up later. At one point they actually discuss whether they want to keep going, and ultimately decide that they'd rather regret something they did than something that they didn't do. They discuss it later, too, and their families convince them to keep going.
Game 1: Baby Rattle: Two 2-liter bottles are taped together at the mouth. gumballs fill one half and you have to shake them into the other half. You have to do this twice, one in each hand, simultaneously. Alia finished with 33 seconds to go.
Game 2: Chocolate Unicorn: Stack 6 chocolate snackcakes on your forehead (while standing) so that they stay for three seconds. They both have to do it. Alia is fine, Chelsea messes up and runs out of time. Attempt #2... this time they finish with 8 seconds to go.
Game 3: A Bit Dicey: Stack 6 dice on a popsicle stick that you hold in your mouth. They must stay for 3 seconds. Chelsea goes for it. She gets it with 32 seconds to spare. She really looked like an expert when she was doing it, too!
Game 4: On the Rebound: Team game. One bounces a ping-pong ball at a clipboard that's attached to the other person's waist, and it has to bounce into a wastebasket. Do it three times. Alia is the bouncer, Chelsea is the clipboard. The first one goes quickly, the second does, too. The third is done with 39 seconds to spare.
Game 5: On the Hook: hold a chopstick in your mouth, use a paper clip that's tied on to pick up four keys that are at the edge of a table. Don't drop any of them, and there are no extras. Alia goes for it. She can start with the chopstick in her mouth. She gets the first one quickly, the second one goes quickly, too, and she has the third with 36 seconds to spare. The fourth one is up with 20 seconds to spare!
Game 6: Iron Board Man: Team Game. Maneuver an ironing board to get a marble into one of three specific holes, and hold it there for three seconds. Unlimited tries. There are holes all over the board that try to catch the marble, too. They get it with 21 seconds to spare, only knocking two or three off the board before that.
Game 7: Cyclone: Spin marbles within upside-down 2-liter bottles on top of glasses. Get all three spinning simultaneously for three seconds. Chelsea goes for it. She makes it look easy and finished with 38 seconds to spare.
Game 8: Horseplay: blow a ping-pong ball out of one horseshoe and across the tilted board into another. Do it three times, one each into three different horseshoes. They both look pretty nervous, and Alia goes for it. Her eyes are watering, she's a little out of breath and she says her blood pressure is up, LoL. The first blows off the table nearly immediately, the second blows off the table close to the end, the third goes into the middle horseshoe. The fourth falls, the fifth runs out of time. She's upset. She's trying to psych herself up to try again. She's shaking hard, gets a hug from her mom, and goes for it. First ball off the board near the horseshoe. Second ball in the middle one. Third ball in the bottom one. Fourth ball off the board. Fifth ball falls into the middle one. They lose and go home with $50,000.

16 and Pregnant (S02E20, S02E21, S02E22, S02E23): Ashley, Mickenny, Texas (outside Dallas), lives with her mom and her little sister. She wants to be a photojournalist and go to school in New York. Her mom had her at 19. She's about to start her senior year. August at 19 weeks: it's a girl due on Christmas. She's been pregnant longer than she was with the guy, LoL. Her mom was fine with an abortion or adoption, but was shocked at keeping it. haha, her babydaddy slept in class and that attracted her to him. They apparently had sex once, two months into dating. Her friends help her "laugh" about the whole situation?? She's taking summer classes at the community college. His mom kicked him out for getting her pregnant. He sleeps in a friend's car and is thinking about joining the military. She blogs about her pregnancy on "The Life of Ashley," LoL. Her social worker gave it to her straight. September at 22 weeks: starting school. She only needs 3 credits and she's taking them with the "problem kids," but she should be done before the baby is due. She wants her baby to have a stay-at-home mom, so adoption it is. She goes to a concert and talks about how it's different from before. She cried shopping for maternity clothes because she sees baby clothes. Her mom is afraid she'll back out. September at 24 weeks: she graduated. Family came from 10 hours away to celebrate. Her grandfather gave a nice toast. I feel like they're getting nothing done when the social worker comes over, LoL. A third Ashley in this episode?? Really?? Her aunt and uncle want to adopt the baby?? No wonder they're giving this one extra time. Still September: Ashley is happy about her aunt, and the babydaddy had his phone disconnected so they can't find out his thoughts. Ashley the social worker is helping Ashley figure out what she wants from the adoption. The aunt is concerned about Ashley backing out, haha. October at 29 weeks: they're working on the adoption plan, and want to use a private attorney, not through an agency. Callie Danielle will be the name... Danielle is the middle name of the aunt and of Ashley. The aunt brings up the backing-out thing again. I'm starting to think maybe Ashley's mom tried to give her up but couldn't or something, so the family thinks it'll happen again? November at 33 weeks: Ashley says there are too many questions to deal with, LoL. December at 37 weeks: she's going to be induced before Christmas - on the 16th. A counselor tells Ashley to go visit colleges to see what fits well, LoL. Ashley wants to drive the baby to the aunt, but her mom thinks 10 hours in a car is too much time with the baby. So, everyone will be at the birth now. haha, "inducement" vs. "induction." Ashley tries again to tell the babydaddy the plan. She got an epidural as soon as she felt labor pains?? And "nubaine" ? We haven't seen the little sister in a LONG time... They get Judy, another social worker (apparently the first girl was an adoption agent). Ashley wants maximum time with the baby... She couldn't tell how close she was at all... totally numb, LoL. She took the baby right away. The baby will have two birth certificates until she's 18... I didn't know that. "I didn't think she was going to be so cute." Apparently Ashley is "thinking" again. Baby is 36 hours old and Ashley doubts her decision... it's 3pm. The mom says it's okay with the aunt and uncle if she changes her mind?!?!?! She also says that she'd keep her too!! BAD MOM! Ashley doesn't go in to hand-off the baby. She comes in later. The notary comes. They sign. Ashley talks about it being so detailed, LoL. Ashley gives the baby to the aunt. The next morning she thinks she made the wrong decision. A few more days go by, and she's depressed. She bought a plane ticket and flew down to get the baby!! The aunt and uncle are upset but trying to tell Ashley she's okay. The sister went to stay with family while the baby is there. Ashley asks her mom to help her, since she has no idea what to do. tsk tsk microwaving bottles! They showed the excrement and Ashley called her mom to ask how to wipe her, hahaha. Ashley's mom asks her how she's gonna know if she can really do this. She feels she needs "a long time to decide." A few of her friends come over. Her college apps are due, and she's trying to do them at the last minute (I did that with my grad school app, LoL). 2 weeks later: she's scared to leave the baby with anybody. They look at baby furniture, but her mom tells her she needs to make a decision before they buy stuff. At a month old, Ashley knows she's not a parent, but "can't give her up." They bring Ashley the adoption agent back. Ashley is ready for adoption, but the aunt says this has gotta be for good, she can't handle the baby being taken back again. It's been a month now and the baby is going back to the aunt. The mom is driving down the baby and Ashley is staying at home with a friend. She went to tour the school in NYC.

Life After Labor episode: 1 out of 6 American girls will be a teen mom! That's higher than I thought. Kayla has an IUD now, since she couldn't remember to take the pills for the life of her before. JR is sneaking into her room at night. They've pushed back the wedding. They have trust issues. Christinna did eventually take a paternity test, but nobody wanted to pay money to send it off. Isiah didn't try to get the college to work with them on his scholarship. They have cheating issues. They weren't using birth control at all. They don't use anything now, either. 1 in 4 teen moms get pregnant again within two years. Brooke and Cody: She comes from a family with a history of teenage pregnancies. Megan and Nathan: 80% of teen dads take off. Nathan didn't show up. He lives with his grandmother now. They're engaged, but Nathan isn't sure. Felicia - babydaddy left, lost a lot of friends. is on-track with education. Markai & James: trust issues. Aubrey and Brandon are married. Still living with grandma. They were on the pull-out method (haha!), but now she has an IUD. hahahahaha, she says she would've gotten the IUD right off the bat if she knew it existed. Emily & Daniel - things have gotten better. They're engaged. Daniel lives 45 miles away, and comes by like twice a week, when he doesn't work. Just the dads onstage: apparently all these guys hung out for a couple days before this? Maybe they had a retreat or something going on? 57% of teen pregnancies end with a live birth, and only 1% of those are adoptions. Ashley is still upset about the adoption. She and her mom talked about contraception, but she never used any. The babydaddy went and dated her former best friend, LoL. The adoptive parents had a hideous bow on baby Callie.

No Easy Decision: Markai is pregnant again, two months after the finale special. Their baby was 8 months old. She finished high school, James got a job, they moved into their own place, and she's planning on college. She missed an appointment for her birth control shot and they didn't use backup. They talk about it while she does James' dreads. She didn't want to ask her mom for advice this time, so she asked her friend. She doesn't want adoption because once she feels the baby kick, she's in love. So she looks up different types of abortion and then calls for more information. She gets really emotional. She then goes to talk to her mom. Markai says that she'll always wonder "what if" in all situations. Her mom pretty much said that she'll support whatever decision, but she won't help make the decision. James and Markai have both grown up with no money, and they don't want that for their children. James wants the abortion but he says Markai has the final word. They spend a week on it and decide to go with abortion. Markai's sister watches the baby while they go for the abortion. I am kinda weirded out with what they're wearing, but whatever. 2 hours later, she's on her way home. James had to carry her up the stairs, and she goes to sleep right away. James went to work the next day. They went out to dinner the next day. She says that she was 6 weeks pregnant and she had a counselor in the room with her. She was glad that everyone was gentle. They talked about the "ball of cells." Markai wonders if there was a better decision. They talk about God not giving them anything they couldn't handle, but God gave them brains at the same time. haha, James gets condoms. 1 in 3 women in the US has an abortion during their lifetime. They bring in two more young girls who had abortions... one went and got a judicial bypass so she wouldn't have to get parental consent to get an abortion (hers was $750). The other was about to be a senior in college and had an 18-year-old sister who was pregnant. She was on the pill but it made her sick so she wasn't taking it correctly. Personally, I hadn't really thought about the situation where someone has one child but aborts the next. Maybe if you had four already you'd abort #5, but having one and then aborting #2 sounds horrible to me. Then again, I don't support teenagers having sex, either.

16 and Pregnant: Where are they Now?: Nikkole... Lyle is a year old. She and babydaddy Josh aren't together. He's in jail because he was out driving and Nikkole called the cops on him since there was a warrant out for his arrest. He writes poems and junk from jail. She's on two cheerleading teams, she's planning to go to college for nursing, she's in her senior year of high school, and she's playing around on the weekends. Her mom watches Lyle when she's not home. When Josh got out of jail, Nikkole and Lyle moved in with him. Lizzie: her baby Summer is 10 months. She wanted the perfect everything. Her babydaddy, Skyler, cheated on her, but they ultimately got married. They live with her parents. Skyler works 2 jobs and has an apprenticeship. Lizzie likes being a stay-at-home mom, but wants to work someday. She feels more like 30 than 19. She's studying to be a dental assistant, even though she did want to be a music teacher. Samantha: her daughter Jordan is 11 months now. She likes to get out and work on the weekends. She wants to teach elementary kids. Babydaddy Eric and she moved in together when the baby was 3 months old, but living with his parents didn't work and she moved back home with the baby. She and Eric are still together. She has Implanon, the stick that goes in your arm for three years. She donated $20 and got it. Lori and Corey had an open adoption for Aidan. She hasn't seen her whole episode since she isn't strong enough to relive it yet. She sees Aidan once a month. She got to pick out a puppy when she turned 18. She's going to school to be an ultrasound technician. She's starting to look for her birthmother. She's not dating anyone but she has Mirena. Valerie: Nevaeh is 14 months. Babydaddy Matt moved to town. They still have trust issues. He wanted a DNA test, it proved that the baby was his. She had been on the pill but she used it wrong. Now she's back on it and says she knows how to use it. Her parents still help with a lot of finances. She's still homeschooled for another year or so. She wants to go to college and finish in four years. Whitney: Weston is 18 months. They moved in with the Babydaddy's (also Weston) mom, but they broke up soon afterward. The baby wasn't gaining weight appropriately. Turns out he has a genetic disorder that stops the body from producing a certain protein, so he's kinda fragile. He can develop lung and liver issues fairly easily. They started giving him rice cereal milk at three months, they check his liver all the time for swelling, but the baby also has extra fluid on the brain. They see a neurologist every three months. They get speech therapy. Whitney wants to be a nurse, and she's in a program and will be an RN in another two years. They have no health insurance and have to pay for Weston's medical bills out-of-pocket. They only want one child because the disorder is genetic and the next baby could have the same problems. She's on the Nuva-ring, and they got another puppy. Nicole: Brooklyn is 10 months old. Tyler (Babydaddy) was still around. They have a pregnancy scare just a few months after Brooklyn was born, and now she's religiously on the pill, LoL. Neither Nicole nor Tyler have graduated yet, but they're still going to school. They want to get married. Ebony: Jocelyn is 18 months. Jocelyn loves pizza. They got married at the DMV for $10 when Jocelyn was 2 months old. They got a DNA test done, it showed that Josh was the father. They live in family housing on-base in Little Rock. She wants to do an apprenticeship at a tattoo parlor. He gets deployed. They say "we're married, there's no birth control." She takes a test (since he says she's moody so she must be pregnant), and it turns out that she's not pregnant, LoL.

My DVR also caught two shorts (as in not full episodes of anything in particular):
Teen Mom Baby Talk: Bentley and the pacifier is so random.

The Girls of Teen Mom 2:
Leah from West Virginia - BabyDaddy is Corey, and they conceived twins a month after they started dating. She goes into labor 6 weeks early, but the first baby was breech so she has an emergency c-section. Aleeah and Alianna stayed in intensive care for a while. She has feelings for an ex, and she and Corey both know that they have issues. Corey doesn't want to lose the kids under any circumstance, though.
Chelsea lived with her dad in South Dakota, BabyDaddy is Adam. Aubree is the baby, born 5 weeks early but healthy.
Kailyn was the one who lived with her boyfriend, Jo, and his family in Nazareth, PA. She's the one whose mother cares more about the boyfriend. His parents try to help, but it doesn't help a ton. Her baby is Isaac.
Jenelle from North Carolina, BabyDaddy Andrew lives 4 hours away. She's got a serious attitude. Baby Jace. Jenelle was upset that she had no time for herself, and she starts partying with her friends instead of taking care of her son. She realizes she can't do it alone and asks her mom for help.

Wednesday:
Better With You (S01E11):
Casey was amused that Mia made a sound when she got up, LoL. Ben didn't believe that he did. Maddie made a sound, too, haha. The mom and dad made noise even getting into bed and getting comfortable, LoL. Mia and Casey have to do their laundry at Maddie's because Casey put a brick in their dryer and it broke. The mom thinks Mia is disillusioned about wearing pre-baby clothes again. Hilarious Herman-Herman thing. Ben had Mia's jeans on, hahaha. hahaha, the old men draft is hilarious! Joel goes on the Fantasy Husband Website, and there's a dead guy ranked higher than him, hahahahaha! I love that Maddie gets excited about the mail. I wasn't thrilled that she has a framed hair from Jon Bon Jovi, LoL. The "challenge accepted" thing was too HIMYM for me. I love that Maddie mailed herself a shoe. I liked Joel's workout jacket. interesting that Mia is in denial about needing maternity clothes. Not wanting to share her husband, even in the game, was funny. Mailing a live fish in a bowl of water?? Ben wearing maternity pants made me giggle. Maddie kicking and screaming at Ben made me laugh... until Joel picked up the mom and put her on the floor, which made me guffaw, hahaha!

Thursday:
Wipeout (S04E01):

New Competitions: Bridalplasty & The Next Great Baker

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

Sunday:

Bridalplasty (S01E01 & S01E02):
I'm a week late getting on this one because I just heard about its existence. The premise is that there's a bunch of engaged women competing for plastic surgeries. If you're not the loser of the week, you get a treatment. So, the person who lasts the longest gets the most surgeries. The big winner also gets a dream wedding. Oh, and they can't see their fiancees while they're away, AND not until their wedding days! Fascinating and creepy, huh? I thought so, that's why I'm not DVRing it.
Anyway, the first episode introduces us to the 12 girls, Cheyenne has a good stomach, but she hates everything else, pretty much. Her fiancee agrees she could get a nose job. Allyson talked about her bad luck in life, how she's been laid off, etc. Lisa Marie talks about missing her fiance. Kristen was a pageant queen as a teen, so I'm not sure what her thought process is on doing this thing. Alexandra is 21 but looks closer to 30, and her fiancee thinks that if they're getting a dream wedding she should get a dream body. She wants a lot done, and the fiancee asks her for a boob job. Dominique is whining because her parents spent all their money on her sister's wedding... so I think she's more after the wedding than the body, LoL. Jenessa is a type-A, competitive, and a talker. Jaimie is already married with two kids, but they had a courthouse wedding. Netty wants to feel fabulous, and the fiancee is okay with a butt augmentation and okay with a breast augmentation. Ashley wants a bigger chest and a different nose. The fiancee loves her as she is. Alexandra and her fiancee are from Biggest Loser, and the girls in the house have various reactions to that "fame." Melissa is also married, but her husband is in Iraq, and they did a courthouse wedding because of his deployment. He's going to come home while she's at the house, so she's sad about that. Jessica is 30 but looks 23 or so. She's big on breast augmentation, but it sounds like she has good reason - she has had cysts removed and her breasts are uneven.
After introductions, we meet Dr. Dubrow, who goes over the wishlists. Alexandra is first... more on her Biggest Loser stuff. Then Lisa Marie... lots of drawing on her body with marker - 15 surgeries+. Allyson has a 3-year-old. She's got some flab, but not as much drawing. Jenessa and Jessica and Jaimie are getting some breasts. Cheyenne is getting some legwork, but otherwise she had a pretty nice body. Ashley is angry that "some skinny girls" are even there. The first night, they're having a Bridal Party. Ashley pawned her ring to pay for her car. And she didn't tell her fiance!! After three teases of a surprise guest, we see that it's the soldier, back from Iraq where he's been for 8 months. Melissa was very happy. Some of the girls were really happy for her. The first challenge had everyone's bikini bodies blown up to giant posters in the tent. In front of each photo were puzzle pieces for what the girl could look like in the end, so they raced to do their puzzles. When you finish you get to go to an injectables party, and the last 2 aren't safe to stay until next week. Jenessa thinks she's super-smart. Kristen finished first. Then Jessica, then Cheyenne. Jenessa got in under the wire. Lisa Marie gets the last syringe, leaving Ashley and Alexandra to be the "bottom two." Apparently Alexandra was the first person to go home on Biggest Loser. and WHOA, there's a giant syringe ice sculpture, LoL. There's a hand vote taken after each of the two girls gets a chance to talk about why they deserve to stay there. Ashley tried to use Alexandra's Biggest Loser thing against her, and Alexandra used it for herself. Out of 10 votes, 3 go to Ashley, 7 to Alexandra. I'm glad that Ashley got taken out tho, aside from Jenessa, I liked Ashley the least. Jenessa, Melissa, and Lisa Marie weer the ones that voted for Ashley (Jenessa because she's sick of Alexandra's Biggest Loser crap). And now those three are on Alexandra's sh!tlist.

On to the second episode... Jenessa is angry that Alexandra is still there. Jenessa wants an alliance with Melissa and Dominique. Jaimie thinks Allyson is a whiner. Every week they're doing some planning, this week is vows. Jenessa said that she'll have to write her fiance's vows, too! And some flashy wedding rings. Most seemed to be in the $5,000-6,000 range, one at $7,000. They all looked pretty similar to one another, LoL. Each person has to write 5 vows and see how well they match the vows of what each fiance wants to hear. They get an hour to work on them. Allyson is worried. Jenessa is worried. Lisa Marie goes first. Melissa thinks it's too dramatic. Lisa Marie's fiance gave weird things in his vows, so they had 0 matches. Cheyenne goes next, and she matches the wrestling season, the laundry, the wife and mother, and the love, so 4 matches. Allyson is third, and matches positive, so just 1. Her fiance gave really specific and weird vows, too. Alexandra gets 2, Melissa gets 3, Netty gets 2, Jaimie gets 2, Dominique gets 2, Jenessa gets 3. Allyson freaks out that she didn't do so well. Alexandra isn't into that. Jessica thought that she had a great shot, but ended up getting 0. Jenessa thought Kristen was inappropriate with her vows containing sex, but it matched so that worked. Kristen actually got 3. Lisa Marie, Jessica, and Allyson were the bottom brides. They get a day to decide who they want to STAY in the house. Lisa Marie turned to prayer. Voting is done by sealed envelope this time. The Top Bride doesn't vote, she leaves for her surgery and gets 2 WEEKS of "being safe" which is cool. Kristen is planning to vote for Allyson to stay, to show her that there is hope. Jenessa wants Lisa Marie to stay. "If you fail to plan you plan to fail" was Jenessa's motto. Cheyenne is getting her nose done at Newport Heights Medical Center. I'd never watched a rhinoplasty before (I've watched boob jobs, tummy tucks, and liposuctions a-plenty) and was a little taken aback at how gruesome it was... Jaimie is kinda weird... I can't decide how I feel about her. Jenessa's alliance plan looked to be working pretty well. A recovery room, haha. Cheyenne would vote for Jessica, but she doesn't get a choice, LoL. I wonder if Cheyenne was trying to get Kristen to vote on her behalf kinda, LoL. Melissa asked Jessica to see the breast scars, and she showed a little, and not Melissa isn't dead-set on Lisa Marie anymore. Kristen was really torn!! Netty voted for Jessica. Jenessa is so fake!! But she voted for Lisa Marie, as planned. Alexandra went with Allyson, but that's fine with me, since I want both of them kicked out. Melissa went with Lisa Marie because she saw Jessica as too big of a threat!! Dominique went with Lisa Marie, as expected. Jenessa had a mean puppy-dog comment. Jaimie went with with Allyson!! OMG, what?? Kristen faked me out and went with Allyson. So Jessica gets sent home, and I'm sad. She does a good job of staying together, though, since so many of the other girls were crying.

The Simpsons (S22E08):
Christmas episode already! Special opening!! yay!!Gingerbread McMansion was cool. "I wanted them til I got them" haha. Polar Express parody. haha with Otto driving. hahaha, pot makes the train go. Whoa, trippy. Toy Soldier in a wheelchair? okay. There were some awesome nods to A Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! "I may have been naughty, but no by today's standards. I didn't get anyone pregnant and I didn't Facebook some kid to death." heh. another cartoon where we get multiple stories. Lisa not wanting a Christmas tree until her mother returned from World War II conflict. And then Marge goes MIA. Who keeps a tree for a year, LoL? The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and a stuffed elephant yielded THAT dream??!? Funny about Martha Stewart being who Marge wrote to, and the knitting of a jetpack was cool. "A picket fence stood on its end makes a sturdy and attractive ladder" VERY strange toy soldiers! face-down snow angels? "Hubby's Holiday Helper" ... chloroform?? Crazy magic wand, too. Katy Perry made me laugh.

The Cleveland Show (S02E08): not a normal show for me, but heard it was a holiday episode so I jumped on it. I liked the intro with everyone on the tree a lot. haha, Rollo didn't get that Jewish was a religion because he just thought that it was a word to describe people who were thrifty, ran the media, etc. haha. Funny references to Up, Fiddler on the Roof, RockBand, and black-and-white cookies. The old guy making a Star of David instead of a Snow Angel was funny, too. Rollo hiding the old man was weird. Cleveland and his wife boxing in the yard was weird. haha, "training montage cut due to familiarity" was amusing.

Family Guy (S09Exx): no episode this week, episode 7 coming up on December 12th.

Kate Plus Eight (S02Exx): not this week.

Monday:
Cake Boss: Next Great Baker (S01E01): 10 bakers vying for a chance to work with the guys at Carlo's and get $50,000. Over 8 weeks, they'll be tested... and they have to please all of the Cake Boss people... like Mary, LoL. Each week will have a Baker's Challenge (timely) and an Elimination Challenge. The top person in the Baker's Challenge gets a buy from the second challenge. Joe is from Brooklyn, was a plumber, and is now a pastry chef, who specializes in cannolis. Pamela was an electrical engineer from Virginia, turned cake designer. Dana from Delaware is a cake decorator, "the sugar daddy." Johanna from MA, who has been icing cakes since high school. She does Renaissance Faires. Megan from Texas is young and cocky. Gregory from Jersey City, the "Lady Gaga of Cakes" who loves stuff that's "out there." Corina from Long Island who was a full-time mom who started baking, and opened a bake shop. Jake from Nashville does couture wedding cakes. He's the one who will be sabotaging people. Kendra from smalltown Virginia who was a 6th grade English teacher who bakes on the side, at her home. Brian from Austin, Texas, who does "wild cakes."
First Baker's Challenge: In 2 hours, they have to make their best dessert. They get to use their own inspiration, and the winner will get a special advantage later. Corina tried to help Gregory, and that was really nice of her. I like Buddy trying to be tough, hehe. Buddy and Mauro do the tasting. Taro Coconut Cupcake (Pamela) = different. Rosemary olive oil cake with orange topping (Joe) = nice texture. Caramel pie (Jay) = not visually pleasing but tasted very good. Banana split (Dana) = wish there was more baking, but very good. Strawberry lemonade cake with lemon basil filling (Brian) = over-baked. Bomb-diggidy-hug-yur-baby-daddy all-night-long-amazing-tasting chocolate hazelnut cake (Greggy) = a lot of words, looks thrown together. Almond Cupcake with buttercream icing (Megan) = spectacular job, very good. Chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache (Corina) = looks pretty good, needs a glass of milk with it (which apparently you don't want to hear), a little dry. Better than Sex cake (Kendra) = cake's not bad, definitely ain't better than sex. Carrot cake (Johanna) = a little spicy, it's liked. Overall, Greggy and Corina were in the bottom two. The top two were Pamela and Joe (who was the very best).
This week's Elimination Challenge is 3 hours the first day and six hours the next day, and you have to create a celebratory cake. Mary is going to be the extra judge. Sucks that Pamela was having such a difficult time getting her hands on a mixer. I liked how everyone was picking different holidays and stuff. OMG Pamela left the oven on all night??!? It sounded like she thought she turned OFF the ovens, tho... and now she has to start over. Jay spent 15 minutes helping people, just so they think he'll be a helper in the future, LoL. Pamela did a Chinese New Year cake. Nobody seemed to get the "gold nugget" part. Joe made a feast of giglio cake, which is an Italian thing. The look wasn't great, but his immunity was going to save him, LoL. Dana made a "baby daddy" cake... Mary didn't look thrilled. Joe did an Easter cake... it looked pretty nice, except for the handle that broke. Brian did an elaborate 4th of July cake. He demonstrated it for Buddy and the crew, and they saw the fog come out, but the confetti didn't go. But who wants confetti on their cake anyway? Greggy did his sweet sixteen cake. Megan did a birthday cake. Mary didn't know it was a Yorkie, she thought it was a wolf. Corina did an anniversary cake that was a tree at the bottom and two tiers for her kids at the top... tasted moist but the outside wasn't impressive. Kendra's football cake just looked plain. The sponge was dry. Johanna's Halloween cake was a haunted house. I thought it looked good except the buttercream was different. They called Pamela's cake amateur and Joe's cake a joke. They thought Greggy's cake was good enough to be sold by Carlo's. Mixed thoughts on Megan's. Kendra's was sloppy, uneven, flat, and Mary didn't like it at all. The chicken looked good, but that was mostly hidden. Johanna's old-school buttercream went well with Mauro, but Mary thought it was something you'd make at home with your kids. Dana, Brian, Jay, Corina were "okay." Greggy, Megan, Johanna were "the best three of the day" and the winner goes to Greggy. Joe thought he took on too much. Mauro and Mary thought that Joe should go home, regardless of the "pass" he had the day before. Buddy asked Joe which cake was the worst, Joe agreed it was his, and Buddy said that he could volunteer to go home if he felt that way. Wow! That's a shocker! Joe doesn't want to give up his immunity, Mauro rolls his eyes, and Buddy lets him keep his immunity. What's all this "true to myself" junk? I don't think you can stay with that in baking. Buddy votes Kendra to go home, which I agree with.
Most cakes take at least 30 minutes to cool, but they're on a time crunch and the quality is suffering. :( I'm not a big fan of Greggy using words like "totes" and "jelly" and "sexalicious" and "Gaysian" and "fabu." I found it interesting that Joe and Pamela were the best bakers but the worst decorators... I wonder how that'll play out as time goes on. And what's with locking the "not the next great baker" in the box truck? Are they getting driven to the airport, LoL?

Little People, Big World (S06E19 & S06E20): Why was Jeremy sleeping in "the forest"? And I agree with Matt... the kids are 20, they need a push, LoL. It always makes me laugh when people don't have resumes... we had to do them in 9th grade and update them every year, so I got in the habit of updating mine every time something changed, LoL. "utilize my interpersonal skills in a challenging customer service setting" LoL. Matt takes Zach to look at cars, which I thought was weird since Amy already took him to look at cars, LoL. And Zach was set back then, now he's kinda wavering. $29k for an Outback? Interesting. How many Xboxes do they have?? Matt is considering SELLING THE FARM to make the twins leave the nest?? What exactly does that accomplish, aside from giving them no place to live otherwise? He says he'll sell it after pumpkin season. And again with Jeremy referring to his dad as "Matt Roloff" LoL. Jeremy doesn't want to fill out an application online so he goes into the store to get an application, but they only have them online anyway, hahaha. And he keeps saying "I hate computers," which isn't helping anything. Who doesn't know their SSN by the time they're 20??? haha, "Indoor Goals job is #1 instead of the farm" was funny. Nice that Zach took the initiative to ask for more hours and be ready to work 7am on Saturday mornings to do so. I thought Jacob was mowing the lawn now, why did Matt ask Jeremy and Zach about that? Jeremy and Matt talking over one another gets old FAST. I was curious as to what Amy thought about all this, and she comes in and says she's pro-selling. Jeremy bought ANOTHER car?? To fix up and sell. I like how he tried to act like he was fixing it for a friend, until Amy asked him which friend, LoL!! I LOVED Amy's earrings in that scene. They looked kinda like the outlines of gift packages, hehe. Odd interview Jeremy had to that machinery place. Awwww, Zach and Matt doing the loan paperwork! haha, Zach: "I don't go on dates, so I'm solid" regarding having to have money for dates.
Is it the same day or does Jeremy just leave up his tent all the time? If Zach just bought a new car, why is he still driving the Previa, LoL? $844 for 2 bedroom, $1035 for 3. hahaha, Zach thought rent was more like $250-300/month. But he's basing that on movies, LoL. They were still looking at some really big houses on a lot of land, LoL. hahahahaha, the boys ultimately decide that they need another YEAR to move out on their own, LoL. Matt and Amy decide to keep the farm for now, too. Amy does mention that the marriage is still rocky, then we get a big montage of the past, and then Matt agrees that things are different. Jacob and Molly weren't really present in these two episodes, but since they were never into the filming like the other kids, I guess I'm okay with that. [series finale]

House, M.D. (S07Exx): no episode this week. #9 to be announced, probably January.

How I Met Your Mother (S06E11): This week, we have The Mermaid Theory, which was pretty cool. I thought it was funny that the gang was troubled trying to figure out why The Captain was creepy, and Marshall rushing in to point it out on the giant portrait was funny. The "hates that he loves them" about the Jonas Brothers was funny. hehe, hair-washing party... flashback to Kelly Kapowski, LoL. The confusion of the Barney-Lily fight was so funny, although I did figure out part of it before the reveal. Cold weather, sports, and cold weather sports was funny for the only commonalities of Marshall and Robin. The eye-twitching was even worse. The motorcycle in the bar was funny, but the street was funnier when OldTed realized the setting was wrong, lmao. The shadowing on The Captain's face when he was talking to Ted on the boar was clever. Flashback, Lily's eventually going to get pregnant. 243 days??!?

Tuesday:
Minute to Win It (S02E16): This is the first of three holiday-themed episodes this month. It's also for $3 million with 12 challenges, for the 12 Days of Christmas. Everyone in the audience also won a Despicable Me BlueRay/DVD combo pack. First up we have two girls, Autumn (in red) and Allison (in green). They're sisters and they're seven years apart. They look super-alike! They have 6 brothers - one is there in the studio and the other five give video messages. They really love their mom... apparently she works 7 days a week and they want to be able to pay off her house so that she can retire.
Game 1: Wreath Relay: Use your heads to transfer the wreath across the stage and onto a lamppost in 60 seconds. They seem to really know what they're doing, and get it on with 41 seconds to spare.
Game 2: Jingle in the Trunk: 12 jungle bells in the tissue box, attached to your backside. One person has to move around to get all 12 out. Autumn goes for it, and gets it with 43 seconds to spare!
Game 3: Holiday Bonus (this can give them extra stuff, like an extra life, extra time, etc.): The challenge is: Face the Gingerbread Man: Put a gingerbread man on your forehead and use your facial muscles to get it into your mouth. Allison goes for it. She knows what she's doing and gets it with 42 seconds to spare. These girls are on it!! (They get an extra life as their holiday bonus)
Game 4: Christmas Ball Conveyor: Team game. Use a ribbon stretched between them to move two ornaments across the stage and onto a tree. The first was going well until it flew off, but Allison caught it so they still got the point. The second one fell off. The third made it with 2 seconds to spare.
Game 5: Holiday Bonus: Do You Hear What I Hear?: Team game of shaking boxes to figure out how many bells are inside: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or 35. They're excited about this one. Autumn totally did the bulk of the work. They second-guessed themselves a lot. They messed up the 15 and the 20, so they failed. I think Guy knew that was coming, LoL. Allison will life, Autumn will shake... good plan for the second attempt! I think that making this one a two-person game is actually a hindrance... like they said, you can't shake more than one at once so it's difficult to work on. Allison looked lost when Autumn asked her to check two sets of two boxes. This time they get it all correct. I think that they should have lost the holiday bonus since they didn't get it on the first try... but they got a 10-extra-seconds thing anyway.
Game 6: Christmas Ball: Use a gift-wrapped box to roll an ornament to a specific spot, by flapping the box like a fan. Autumn goes for it. She gets it with 23 seconds to go. It was a bit tricky!
Game 7: Christmas Cliffhanger: Blow at a Christmas card (with the fold at the top) across a table so that it hangs on the edge without falling off. You only have to do it once, and you have 10 chances. The girls are looking worried. Autumn goes for it. She makes the very first card do it! And apparently she has never done it before, LoL.
Game 8: Raise Your Glass: Build a tower with four martini glasses and twelve Christmas ornaments (the round ball kind) - four in each glass. Allison goes for it, and gets to the part where the last glass goes on top when it all falls and time runs out. Allison goes again, I wonder why she doesn't use the "ten extra seconds," but she seems to have a grip on it. I am pretty sure she makes it, but they cut the episode with like a second or two left in the "three second wait time" part. boo.

16 and Pregnant (S02E17): Kayla, 17, from Centre, Alabama. Spoiled by her parents. a beauty queen, a hunter, and an equestrian. Has been with JR for 6 months. October at 20 weeks: haha, the restaurant they're at is called "Greens and Beans." JR has already graduated from high school. She had previously wanted to major in nursing. JR is a mechanic, and wants them to move in together. It's a boy. JR doesn't like horses. JR's parents own other houses and will let them move into one if they get married. 24 weeks: JR's mom wants to make sure Kayla isn't blaming JR, LoL. It makes me laugh a little bit that his parents accept the pregnancy, and clearly know that they're having sex, but still won't let them live together unless they're married. Whoa, deer on the wall, LoL. JR seems like he's ready to go to the courthouse, but Kayla isn't sure she's ready. December at 28 weeks: she's still trying to do pageants, and calls one to find out why she can't do a pageant after she has a child. Both moms think Kayla can take off just 2 weeks from school, and they're both plotting taking vacation to help with the baby. They're still going hunting together, which is kinda cute. She's understandably upset that all of her friends are going away to college (good for them! I feel like the case is often the opposite). December at 32 weeks: she's still going to the gym. 34 weeks: she's doing a pregnancy photo shoot. And he worked it into the proposal! cute. She starts having contractions and is bleeding... 7 cm already! 2 hours later she's pushing, and we get photos of the delivery instead of video, so that's a nice change. 5 pounds, 7 ounces for being 5 weeks early. Poor latching so she's pumping. hahaha, her friends came by "after school." Kayla's parents let JR stay overnight, but his mom makes him stay in a different room, so he's not getting up at night like she is. February and he's a month old: she still hasn't gone back to school. She wants to wear the baby and ride a horse?? That doesn't look too promising... I'm a little concerned that she's not using a carseat... every time we see her exit a car, she's carrying the baby... The Christmas tree is still up, LoL. Kayla flat-out won't move out of her parents' house yet. March at 5 weeks old: she has to go to school next week so she doesn't become ineligible to graduate.

Wednesday:
Better With You (S01E10):
We already got a taste of Christmas a few episodes ago when we had the family preparing their Christmas card, and the previous episode was Thanksgiving, but here we are at Christmas again! "their first plane ride together" ?? okay. Even though everyone was packing for a plane ride, they didn't do the "first, third, millionth flight together" thing. I like how Maddie wanted people to think she was smarter than she was. The "got the tickets" parallel made me laugh. Wow, this is Casey's first commercial Christmas. "Gifts and gnomes are my 5th and 16th favorite things" hahaha. I loved how the parents were tricking Maddie into wrapping their gifts, haha. haha, "first boobs." Ben's mom is 65. "Ben's dad is stuck in a well" made me laugh pretty loudly! Whoa... Casey's parents' idea of a store-bought gift is a single marshmallow... dang. hahahahaha Ben actually put on the sweater, even thought Maddie figured out Mia's lie. Mia insulting Maddie's boobs was awkward. I LOVED Mia's coat!! Casey was super-corny with his "I'll run to the gift shop and buy a bunch of crap so we can have a Christmas right here" haha. oh goody... Casey has a plan... I wonder if it's similar to Jackson's "four in four" thing he sprung on Sookie.
