Giveaway: Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions

by Amy K. Bredemeyer

Halloween was last week, and I don't know about you, but I saw costumes of all kinds. An assortment of witches graced my doorstep, as well as ninjas, cats, and a bunch of other creatures. Plus about eight uncostumed folks, but that's beside the point... Anyway, the Friday before Halloween I was out and about and saw a couple dozen more "adult" costumes. And, many of them could be classified as "sexy." But, I did not see a single Playboy Bunny, which I thought was strange. Online, I saw five or six different groups of girls dressed as Pan Am stewardesses, presumably a popular costume because of ABC's Sunday night drama, Pan Am. And, although The Playboy Club has already been cancelled, I assumed that I would see a couple of bunnies, at least at the bar downtown. Alas, I saw not a one... though there were also surprisingly few Steve Jobs costumes... especially for Silicon Valley!

Anyway, the lack of attention paid to the Playboy Bunnies inspired me to go read Gloria Steinem's essay again. It had been a few years, and I found her investigative piece just as interesting as I had originally. Because, really, she is a very notable woman who has done fascinating and important things in her life. So, though it's not uber-television-related (though the documentary Gloria: In Her Own Words aired on HBO back in August), this week's giveaway is a copy of Steinem's book, Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions (Second Edition).

so I JUST realized it was only now Saturday. Because of yesterday's schedule, I was thinking that IT was Saturday, and I accidentally ended the giveaway a full day early. My apologies - keep an eye out for a new giveaway to be posted tomorrow!
