Minute to Win It is Back; Miami Medical is Done

Friday:

Miami Medical (S01E13): Who can draw that nice of a picture on a moving bus?? The issue of the cyst on the back and whether they can perform that surgery was an interesting argument. I could have done without the extra drama between DeLeo and his brother. I was shocked at the prospect that the woman would completely give up custody of her son so he could have the medical treatment done with no charge. The shaman stuff was just weird. The "slip" during the surgery was interesting, and very ER in character. I kinda wish we'd get a chance to see how that affects things in the long term. And I thought it was honorable that the doctor wore that hat in the surgery. And, just like that, this show is over. sad.

Sunday:

Sons of Tucson (S01E09): Really? Ron goes around stealing dogs and then returning them for rewards? Awesome. Um, the middle kid is the one who makes the decision about whether Ron can live in the house, without talking to the other kids?? Haha, the dog is a wolf!! Didn't see that coming! But I was impressed that the middle kid believed it was a purebred without seeing papers. Seemed out of character. Haha, he tried to act like the pet store was in an abandoned building. I couldn't believe that the boys gave away the wolf like that, with the intention that it would maim that annoying girl, LoL. Ron really is starting to rub off on them.

Monday:

The Secret Life of the American Teenager (S03E05): I was surprised at how Anne just expected Amy to figure it all out on her own... I mean, I understand that they went over that before she left, but c'mon. I think it's HILARIOUS that the school is starting the new rumors. Especially from jealous band kids. What kinda dresses were Lauren and Madison wearing? Way to take charge, Henry, LoL! I liked hearing Alice's thoughts on how she and Henry would handle a pregnancy. That guest house of the Bowmans is REALLY nice! Nice story of how Amy picked the french horn... I LOVE "Peter and the Wolf" !!! wait... Ben was inviting the dads to Adrian's ABORTION??!? Ashley wants to kiss Ricky?? At least she looks torn about it afterward. I don't know that Adrian's mom blaming Adrian's dad is helping matters, LoL. The surprise of pot brownies was hilarious. But they weren't acting high enough for me to figure it out my own... Jack gave that away. I didn't really care for that photo montage of Amy in NY... didn't like the idea, the music, or the fact that half of the images were of her being lost, LoL. NOBODY realized this program was for teen moms?? Amy skipped orientation?? what?? haha, Jack slept in the tub. Fancy breakfast at Ben's house, LoL.

Cake Boss (S03Exx): no new episode this week, although they tried to pass-off old episodes as "new" by adding in pop-up information throughout the show.

Huge (S01E02): I liked the overlays of campers' thoughts at the beginning. Tearing out the pages of a book as you go is funny, LoL. New girl is uber-close to her family, LoL. hahaha, "on a scale from 1 to Ellen" how gay do I seem? Why would George let Amber use his phone?? I really enjoyed the dramatic writing and deleting of the emails by the director, as well as her struggling with that mini-muffin. I think the letter-writing overlays could have been used more throughout the episode. The brother-sister drama is really nice to see, I hope to see more of that. Will's letter was kinda moving. I don't know how I feel about Caitlin's complete write-off... I think that's a bad thing. Wait... one anxiety attack and Dani leaves?? She couldn't have worked through this??

Tuesday:

Wipeout (S03E05 & S03E06): couples' edition, but married folks and not blind dates (okay, strike that, found out some are only dating). Some of the couples are pretty amusing, like the bully who is a newlywed but obviously regrets that. The idea that someone flew up from the blob and didn't land was dumb. I'm starting to get annoyed by the fact that nobody ever gets past the suckerpunch without felling off, LoL. I think the thing I like least about the couples' edition is that it goes from 12 to 6 to 4 to 2... not as exciting. Bad Abbott & Costello joke. Mrs. WishyWashy was really bad at the Wipeout Zone. haha, both women took longer than 20 minutes... that's crazy! It kinda amused me in general that there were a lot of problems with the gutbusters... it doesn't seem this hard when they're covered in foam, LoL.

Somebody actually made it all the way across the suckerpunch! Amazing! The trampoline obstacle was funny. Lots of funny wipeouts on the double cross today. I like the sleepytime spinner as a round, I think we should see it more often. Those footie pajamas, however, probably suck to run in after they're wet. Nothing super-exciting really happening in the Wipeout Zone today. I am also getting a little tired of the closing line, "good night and big balls." But, what I'd really like to know why we're doing two episodes a week... any thoughts?

Table for 12 (Special Episode): cute premise. I couldn't believe all of that chalk sat out in the yard ALL WINTER! That was so cute that the little sister would still eat the burned grilled cheese so willingly. The tooth-checking kinda grossed me out. It was also kinda crazy that other people bring over their kids for Betty to pull teeth... yikes! Picking out the puppy was cute, and I'm a little sad that, in the end, they had to just choose one puppy because of the costs. But I understand. The changing of the name was interesting, and it wouldn't have occurred to me that the neighbors may panic when hearing someone shout "Bullet," LoL. Casey is a good name though. And the little doggie was SO cute! I would have liked to see Rebecca interacting with him a little more, but maybe that'll come. Similarly, I hope this show is going to get back on a more regular schedule now.

Wednesday:

Hot in Cleveland (S01E04): LOVE Elka's tracksuit in the beginning, with the cute glitter seams. Melanie without makeup isn't very pretty. Funny Roseanne dig. Overall, I didn't care for this episode all that much... too much Victoria and crap. The confusion over sexuality was pretty funny. Love the idea of Elka turning Liberace straight. The previews for next week look better, and I'm glad. I'm also curious as to how this playing-the-same-episode-twice-in-a-row thing is working for TVLand. I guess they're doing alright tho, since they've already ordered a second season!

Minute to Win It (S02E01): Twins episode... I had a hard time believing that they were only 25... they totally looked 30 or so. Jessie in pink, Becky in blue. They got over-excited whenever they saw the game blueprint. It was cute when they showed the dad on the video, but overkill when they brought him out in person.

Game 1: Roll With It: Unroll 2 rolls, one with each arm, in a minute. Jessie had a slower start than I anticipated, but finished with 26 seconds to spare.

Game 2: Noodling Around: Pick up 6 penne noodles with a piece of linguine... in your mouth. Don't drop any on the floor or let the linguine break. Becky started strong, but never got the last two because "it was shaking so badly." On the second try she made it with 15 seconds to spare.

Game 3: Tweeze Me: Racquet standing upright with a tennis ball balanced on top. You have to use tweezers to pick up a tic-tac from a cup and hold it through a colored hole in the middle of the string, dropping it in a cup on the other side. Don't let the tennis ball fall off the top. You have to do it once, and you have five set-up racquets and like a hundred tic-tacs. Jessie goes for it. She knocks down the first few, then gets one in but the tennis ball and racquet tip over at the same time. At 2 seconds left, she knocks over the last set-up. On her second try, she does it early on but the set-up tips over. But, she does get it with some time left.

Game 4: High Strung: Holding string between your hands, lift an egg off a bottle and over to another bottle. Twice. Becky has to go by default since Jessie is too shaky at this point. I dunno, Becky looked pretty shaky to me. She gets the first one without a problem. The second one is also easy for her, and she finishes with 10-11 seconds to spare.

Game 5: On the Hook: hold a chopstick in your mouth, that has a string and paperclip attached. Use the paperclip to "hook" four keys without dropping anything. Becky plays again. She does it right and does it quickly.

Game 6: Whipper Snapper: Towel attached to floor. Whip 3 ping pong balls into a bucket 15 feet away. They asked the audience for advice, and Jessie went. This says to me that they thought maybe Becky should have done it, but didn't want to do 3 levels in a row. I was kinda nervous there, but she gets the third one with less than 10 seconds to spare!
Game 7: Propeller Head: Launch a propeller so that it lands in a basket 15 feet away. Becky plays. She comes close twice, but never gets it. They do, however, get to walk away with $50,000.

Thursday:

Futurama (S06E04): I've always liked the phrase "dictated but not read," haha. I liked the little storm clouds making the drinks, LoL. Clownitis is ridiculous. The "Exhibit A" thing made me laugh. Nice Transformers moment. Really?? Ghosts and Horses can marry but humans and robots cannot? The whole Kip part(s) of the show were boring, and the end with the motorcycle and all that was crap.

Sunday:
Minute to Win It: I don't think it was on last week?

Sons of Tucson (S01E02): it was interesting to see Ron get a friend, the family go to the garage sale, and then Ron making it into living in the house (and out again). This moron is actually smarter than his friend, LoL. HE ROBBED THE WRONG HOUSE?? awesome. "bank error in my favor" = nice. haha, the friend got hooked on robbing!! I love the quirkiness of the kids... heart monitors, crossbows, Twilight, LoL. The man thinks FAST on his feet - when he's lost in the house he plays it off well.

The Simpsons (S21E15): Interesting springish couch scene. Funny commentary on morons using GPS devices. Firecrackers in pencil sharpeners and spitting in books? The things kids do when there's no teacher around have changed dramatically. Nelson and the blind kid were interesting. Lisa's alarm clock scene was FUNNY!! Bad truth about smart girls vs average girls and attention. Ralph's failure to cheat correctly was eye-rolling. LoL on the last dime. And, LoL on Marge's cooking being able to make garbage good and the 3D comment at the movies. Silly laughing/kissing gag. I'm surprised there's only two classes per grade... I had always thought that the school was larger, I guess. Really? Michelle Obama flew in to aid Lisa? Clever "flotus" screenname for her. Silly little kids and their relationship drama. ANd, Nicky reminded me of Kimi from Rugrats.

Family Guy (S08E14): Yeah, I think it is too soon for a Terri Shiavo musical. Um, not sure about Stewie's stage fright OR why Lois asked Peter about his bowel movement. Funny/weird journalism joke. What in the world was the dolphin scene?? Really? Peter put Quagmire in his clothes and the girl had sex with him instead of Peter?? "someday a white man is going to be elected President again" hahahahaha. yeah, that's a reason to live, LoL.

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother (S05E18): I also love my birthday. My husband extends it pretty much a week for me (he loves me, LoL). So Lily celebrating her birthday AWESOMELY was amazing. Ted should have known better than to bring a new girl to the party... even if she's a baker, LoL. Special games based on Lily was so cool, I'm gonna need that sometime soon, haha. I think the weirdest thing about the episode was that the black tie party was at their apartment.... I love how Barney has "never taken a bad picture," since NPH is always hott, LoL. AND, Ted doesn't understand why it's not cool to bring random girls to events!?!?!? AHHHH!!! LOOOOOVED Marshall telling Lily that Ted was tricking her, and then the proceeding dialogue about Robin being a "random skank" haha. Whoa, Strawberry WAS a mistake. 42? 42? FORTY-TWO??!? How in the world did she get that?? Lily is officially 32. The allergy to cilantro at the end was classic.

House, M.D.: not this week.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager (S02E24): This whole concept that it's been a YEAR since Amy had the baby is kinda strange. Not nearly enough has happened. I also find it interesting that they're not covering any of John's milestones... first steps, teething, etc. It's kinda a little glorified motherhood, but I guess there's so much drama with the high schoolers, there's no room for the actual mothering stuff, LoL. I don't understand why Amy cared so much about her parents being at the birthday party when her grandmother just had a stroke! It's like the way Rachel acted on Friends when it was Emma's first birthday, LoL! Funny way that Ashley talked to George about birth control pills, LoL. Okay, so Adrian told Ashley and Grace about her possible pregnancy. Ashley told George. Grace told Jack. Madison overheard. What the heck was Madison wearing at school?? And why was Ben going around inviting everyone to his dad's wedding? Especially the week of the event!!!! [And I think Lauren and her date had no reason to be at the wedding, much like Anne's mother and her (new) husband... there's no reason for tangential characters to appear there.] Why would George tell Mimzi that he and Anne were eloping in Vegas? LoL. I liked Adrian's mother's hair at her wedding, LoL. Which is good, since the dress was a joke. Madison's hair was looking cute. Amy's got some nice legs, but she NEEDS a new hairstyle!! Dang, if that's her real voice, Madison can SING!!! A horse-drawn carriage? are you KIDDING me?!?!?! Betty's dress was worse than Adrian's mom's! And why did everyone join in on the first dance?!? Griffin and his friend had a cute moment on the dance floor. Ricky wore a funny tie. The final scene seems like Adrian is indeed pregnant, but there was no definitive word, so I guess we wait until next season (June) to find out for sure! Oh, have we lost Jimmy completely? I kinda thought/hoped he'd be back...

Dancing with the Stars (Season 10, Week 1): this was a random one for me, and not sure I'd make it a regular thing. I caught the second half, just as Lysacek was getting his scores and such. Fun little ditty from the International Space Station. I had never heard of that Nicole girl before. HATE Kate's hair like that. And leave it to her to be primping her partner moments before they go on. It was also a shame they showed an old (read: last September) pic/vid of her kids, why not anything newer (unless Jon has managed to not let the kids be filmed at all by anyone, LoL)? oooh, and what's with Kate's makeup?? Overall, I feel like they should all do the cha-cha one week, then all do the waltz the next, etc. This semi-random crap isn't that great.

Tuesday:
Table for 12 (S03E01): I am SO glad this show is back, LoL! Meghan looks like she's gained some weight. But, the onset of puberty is upon her, LoL. And, that makes sense, given the fact that she also doesn't want to hang out with her entire family in public, LoL. It was funny that all of the kids remembered the spiral staircase... those are awesome until you get about five and a half feet tall, LoL. OMG!! They went to the same ski resort in the Poconos (Camelback) that I did a few weeks ago! Small world, LoL. Whoa, it's "L, 7, wienie" now? haha. It was nice to see Rebecca got to participate in the tubing. I loved watching them play Scrabble Slam and Guesstures, I wouldn't have thought 5-year-olds would have been that good, but it worked out pretty well.

19 Kids and Counting (S04E08): Josie's at 54 days, so less than a week since the last episode. Filmed (the Josie segment specifically) around February 2nd. It's nice that they allow a couple of the kids to ride with the production assistant when he goes to film some stuff at the regular house. It's also nice that the younger ones write letters to those who are in the other location. I don't know how I feel about Josh teaching Joseph to drive. Interesting angle by having him learn all about insurance first. I had to learn about checking oil and changing tires first, LoL. Anna was really quiet this episode. We haven't seen Cousin Amy much, either. Anna had Joseph and Josiah take down Christmas lights, so I assume this is actually earlier than Feb 2nd in that part of the episode.

16 and Pregnant (S02E06): Samantha from Texas. She shares a room with her brother, her mom's having a baby, and so is she. Go figure. September at 24 weeks, I think this is the earliest we've seen an episode start in a while. Not crazy about this couple. The projector screen was a little creepy for an ultrasound. I was surprised that she would be so adamant about having sex, knowing that her mother was a teenage mother and also being aware of how hard it was. I'm glad that her parents made her move to live with her dad and change schools, but I'm sorry that it didn't help. A grandmother at 33.... that's awful. I can't even tell you I'll be a mother by 33, LoL. Jordynn is an interesting spelling. Their corsages for the homecoming dance were UGLY. Another induction. Sam was really in some pain, and screaming a ton... and she was only at 2cm. She just wasn't dilating. At 21 hours, she was only 3cm. At 25 hours, they're going for a c-section (her mother had to have cesareans as well). She couldn't see her baby right away because of her fever. It was clear that there was a heavy focus on the labor and delivery rather than caring for a newborn, since they didn't leave the hospital until more than three-quarters of the way through the episode. I think this was a good episode for that "scare" factor, since Sam flat-out points out that her own mother told her how hard it would be, and that she didn't listen.

Wednesday:
South Park (S14E01 & S14E02): Last week's: interesting opener with the video gaming, LoL. Ewwww to Clinton's cigars comment. Sheen's internet porn was funny. haha Duchovny, although I didn't completely get the berries reference... And Tiger. And Michael Douglas.

This week's: I thought it was funny that Cartman was so excited to read the book, and that all of the kids were finishing it on the first day. There was definitely a funny underlying commentary on how certain things have become so commonplace that they're no longer banned for those reasons... like how the kids were accustomed to the language in Catcher in the Rye. Although, I must admit, I read the book as a freshman in high school... and don't remember anything awful... but it's been over a decade. The vomiting made me laugh. I loved how Butters became the scapegoat... as always, LoL. You'd think they'd put buckets on the floors of the bookstore if "everyone vomits before finishing the first paragraph" LoL. I loved how Butters got grounded for the language in the book, yet it's selling in 26 languages, LoL. The reading of Butter's (second) book made me gag.

Sunday:
The Simpsons (S21E08): the jab at the Creative Arts Emmys made me mad, LoL. The nerds being the snow dogs was funny. Funny how the snow kept blowing Bart up the stairs. The brothers montage was pretty nice. South Park impersonations were only average. The bad kids hawking lugies was strange. The grown-up depiction of Maggie and Lisa was about the same as always, but I really liked how "third sister" looked, haha. Maggie "being a baby" was cute.

Family Guy (S08E09): The Scooby-Doo thing was funny, especially with Dr. House in it, haha. Other than that, not much to say about this episode, LoL.

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother: last week's (S05E10): love the premise and the first few minutes giving/explaining it. LOVED Barney in the overalls. Was surprised that Marshall couldn't slam-dunk.

this week (S05E11): wait, we've never really seen any of them smoke, but all of a sudden Robin smokes all the time and Marshall smokes when he's stressed and Lily smokes when Marshall does?!? I think the kids said it best with all the "WHAT!?!" comments. Really, Ted and Barney, too?? "dammit, Marshall! We already have four Vikings lamps!" I love how when Marshall called Robin to stop her from smoking, Lily waved at the TV, haha. It was interesting how they gave "dates" for when the different characters stopped smoking for real.

House, M.D.: no new eps til January.

Little People, Big World (S05E16): it was nice that the dwarf family from Iraq has found a new home in Idaho and that the mother made a traditional Iraqi meal for the Roloffs. Otherwise, nothing much happened.

Caught "Game Over" (S05E04) for the most part (was cooking & doing laundry). It was sad that Zach got benched for his grades, and even worse that even being kept from his passion didn't help him improve his grades (as we saw throughout the most recent episodes). There was a nice tribute to Mike again at the end.

Jon and Kate Plus Eight: still missing the finale, "It's a Crazy Life, But it's Our Life."

Cake Boss (S02E11): LoL, Buddy saying that sitting on the bike was like touching the guy's girlfriend, haha. Oh man that Tea Lady.... doesn't know what she wants, asks Buddy for suggestions, but tells him she hates his idea... um ok. And that cake bike was SOOOO BIG.... why not make it a smaller scale?? It was funny how much Buddy's mother was yelling at him over riding his friend's motorcycle around the block. That teapot cake feeds WAAAAAY more than the ten people at the party. And the fact that her friends made it sound like she has this party every year was weird... then why did she have NO IDEA how she wanted it to look??

Tuesday:
Table for 12 (S02E12): wow, that's quite a difference between the heights in the sextuplets. Betty and Eric are just so much fun to watch talk to eachother, LoL. The honesty and happiness warms my heart. There was verrrry little Megan tho, for some reason.

Also caught "Ramp it Up" (S02E02): That was a pretty kickin' monitor they have... that puppy runs like $1200!! Those kids play so nice together most of the time! Tara and Rachel were having a girls' tea party and Tara welcomed Ryan into the party when he wanted to join in as the waiter.

18 Kids and Counting (S03E27): The Bates house is really nice now!! I thought it was an interesting interview with Rusty that he didn't have kids because he didn't want to risk not being able to raise them in a godly manner... otherwise he would have gone with "a dozen" haha. Dang that was some good music, and I'm not even a bluegrass fan! True good stuff, particularly the violinist, in my opinion. It was also funny to hear some lingo, like "cutting it up" haha. It was interesting to see the oldest few kids doing First Responders and Volunteer Firefighters. "I don't know if I'd want to do it as a job but it's fun for volunteer" hmmm... interesting. I don't know that a skating rink is the best place for a stroller... what if it flipped?!?

also caught "GrandDuggar: First Month" (S03E24): Josh being on camera and not knowing how to put in the carseat was problematic and had me worried. And the tiny baby seemed to be skeptical as well, LoL. WHOA... what was up with that professor's hair?!??!? LOL on the girl in the elevator who doesn't want to read about the Duggars... hilarious! Anna definitely looked tired in the interview, LoL. Really, Josh? Rolling up in a jag? The doctor was kinda strange looking. One of the cameramen asking one of the kids to whack his fist with a pan was disturbing. I didn't really understand what Josh and Anna were doing in that one store... did she buy a purse? a necklace? anything? It was nice to hear about John David's updated plan and business. His comments trying to sell cars (like "as seen on tv") were funny. That's a nice Mac monitor in Josh's office, too. I think Michelle notices Josh's attitude sometimes... she made a point of noting that John David's approach to selling cars is very different.

End of Monk

Friday:
Monk: thank you, USA for your Monk marathon and for re-running last week's episode twice so I could catch it AND the new/final one. Both episodes really seemed to be long... not in that they dragged on but just that so much was happening!
Part I (S08E15): the flashback opening was a little strange. I thought Trudy would be much prettier, going off of the college-age Trudy in other flashbacks. It was funny that Monk remembered Dr. Nash being right-handed twelve years later. The grocery store scene was ridiculous... how many items in one aisle do both Natalie and Monk need??!? There were also people in the room where Monk got the shot that weren't doing ANYTHING. I hate filler. Sad to think of Monk dying of poison! LoL, "I'm not pregnant, I'm dying." Randy kills me with his stupidity sometimes... like in the control center of the train station. and then Randy coming out of nowhere in the train yard... what was up with that??!? I was surprised to see Monk open the videotape. But the start of Trudy's speech was shocking!
Part II (S08E16): I couldn't believe Mr. Monk took down the judge in the courtroom! The fight was really something else! And that Monk asked Leland to kill the man who killed Trudy!!?! And Monk giving his sleeping meds to the guy watching him? And poisoning the wipes? genius! Randy as a police CHIEF?!? hahaha. nice that he ended up with Sharona tho, LoL. It was so nice to see Mr. Monk so excited over his step-daughter. Monk has got to be the strangest all-of-a-sudden father EVER. His ticks and obsessions and things would be a lot to get used to fast. I thought the end was kinda unfulfilling... I really wanted to hear about the case after Natalie hung up the phone, LoL.

Little People, Big World (S05E15): wow. I know a tad about Okaloosa County, FL. I've known at least ten or fifteen people from there. Interesting they had Habitat there. Not that they don't need it, I just didn't see that coming. A young-to-mid-teen asked Amy to the prom? And she said she'd go when the time goes? What?!? Zach and Jeremy at the bank was interesting, they seemed a little overwhelmed. It was nice that Amy really wanted to add in some extra community service like Habitat and speaking at the foster home and visiting with the teenage moms. Amy saying "y'all" was funny. I like that she used the Alabama/Auburn rivalry, haha. Amy trying to fool the twins about the tattoo was funny... I wonder why she wiped it off and didn't show Molly at least.

Cake Boss (S02E10): I LOOOOVED the Christmas presents cake. so well done!! and I really have no constructive comments about the Mrs. Richfield and her cake, LoL. I did like how Buddy and the guys had a drag contest haha.

Tuesday:
18 Kids and Counting (S03E26): Jessa turned 17 and the girls got manis, pedis, and facials. Jessa noted that she uses powder regularly, which confirms my earlier assumptions that the girls do wear makeup, even if the only people they see all day are family members, LoL. At least 2 of the boys wore heelies, that was funny. TLC had a typo when they did the pop-up about the Duggar pets... there is no 'p' in "hamster" LoL! It was interesting to hear that John David is doing some stuff with his local volunteer fire department... that's close to a regular profession, LoL. What was with JimBob trying to convince others to bungee jump?? Then on to the Bates'... I'm surprised to find out that Kelly had 14 at-home births!! That's so many! and 2 bathrooms to 5 is a really big change! Good for them! I was also taken aback that Lawson does the grocery shopping for the Bates family and that so many of the older girls don't like doing it. It seems that anytime the Duggars go shopping (except when Anna and some of the girls went), Michelle and JimBob are always present.

Table for 12 (S02E11): you know, I try not to compare one reality show with another, but I think that this episode was really the antithesis of Jon and Kate Plus Eight. For instance, I love how when Betty has to turn around to bring the carseat back, they do it in stride and movie on. Can you imagine how angry Kate would be if Jon forgot to take the carseat out?? And then there was the instance where they forgot Megan... yes that was funny, but it was a lot funnier that none of the kids realized they were one short, either! The Gosselin sextuplets would have definitely realized someone was missing, LoL. I also loved how Kyle doesn't like the beach because he "has pasty white skin," haha. Then there's the fact that Betty let the kids get sand in/on their clothes if they wanted to... Kate never would've gone for that. I also particularly loved how Betty let some of the older kids go in the water "to their ankles." There's a great home movie my dad filmed where my brother and I are visiting my Aunt in Florida for Easter... I'm about seven and my brother is four... we were allowed to take off our shoes and sit on the edge of the pool, dangling our feet into the water... next thing you know we're standing on the first step (still in our Easter best), then the last moment is my brother moving down to the second step when my grandfather yells, "hey JJ! Get outta there!" hahahaha. Anyways... there was a nice subtle shot of Eric folding canvas bags after returning from the grocery store, and there's some nice displays of affection when Betty is so happy that Eric made the fish for dinner!

Caught "Hit the deck" (S02E01) this time as well. I was impressed that Eric insisted on doing most of the work himself (Kate never thought Jon could do anything alone), and I was a little fearful for the kids being allowed so close to all of the construction... especially in bare feet and the like. And Eric cleaned up the spilled fruit on the new deck without yelling at Betty for letting the kids have it out on the new surface (I can actually picture Jon yelling at Kate for being so careless). It was a nice moment when Kevin saw Tara was up, and instead of telling on her, he just worked it out so she'd go back to sleep. I thought it was adorable when the little boy (EJ?) was pretending he made the cake with shrimp and salt, hahaha! Although I was a little afraid that he's knock it all over. When the chocolate fountain was causing problems, the parents said "I think it's worth the mess for the delight of the children" awwwwwwww. :)

Friday:
Monk: missed it. and this week is the final episode... which will be lost to me if I don't see the most recent one since it's a "part II"

The Dog one (S08E11)... it was okay. but who in their right mind takes 5 dogs?? and I never did understand why the guy buried the lady... was it really just about covering up the extra-martial affair?
Mr. Monk as the Best Man (S08E13)... Mr. Monk ruining the surprise was hil-freaking-larious. I can't believe she took a peak. why such a quick engagement? Monk holding the ring in his clenched fist at all times was sooooo Monk. who the hell gets married in ten days?!?!? And his bachelor party was a riot. Damn, I would've wanted a pinata at my bachelorette party. Betting on what heaven smells like was funny, too. Randy is pretty impressive on the steel drums! The unraveling of the plot was really long and complex.
The Badge one (S08E14)... the start was rough. It was delightful watching Monk get ready on the first day. The one cop keeping Monk's hand-wiping tissue was creepy. Working for a music promoter is so different than working for Mr. Monk, it was easy to see that she would be uncomfortable.

Sunday:
The Simpsons (S21E07): the opening part about the Bop-It was pretty funny. "why do my actions have consequences" was also pretty funny. And why was there a (sad) Bambi scene? OMG dipping opossums is freaky. I laughed at the bowling in the snow. the "which craft" was also semi-humorous. Cornell and Dartmouth counting Wiccans as a minority group was interesting, as was Ned Flanders commenting about how Buddhism leads to Wiccans. LMAO Stacy/Gwendolyn's last name was DeathSatan and she changed it to NightShadow. The blind fish was also amusing.

Family Guy (S08E08): "special" is getting (mis)used too often lately. The sleep-dragging was freaky. The Windows 7 plug was strangely out-of-place. I feel like the maid thing on this show has been done before... no? If there's a number in the paper and Brian goes to call it, they should at least show him attempting to dial the correct number sequence. Why would Stewie admit so soon that he saw Brian bury the dog? I would think his character would have more fun with that knowledge. The feline AIDS thing was confusing...
Left at 9:12 for a movie...

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother: all caught up!
"Playbook" (S05E08): the names were almost as funny as the Canadian sex positions. I love that Lily is playing Barney with the playbook. And let's review just hot hott NPH is. omg I love him. And now that he's on Twitter, I get daily doses! :) The end was realllly funny, with the run-down of "The Scuba Diver" play.

"Slapsgiving 2" (S05E09): LoL, Marshall forgot the turkey in the taxi. And he gives Robin and Ted a slap as the reward for finding the turkey. awesome. How can someone be THAT bad at creating board games?? I love how storylines get the sideline and ACTUALLY COME BACK in this show!! yay!! Lily's look when she makes people "dead to her" is amusing. haha, Marshall skyped into his parents' Thanksgiving. Ted's ploy to get the slap by saying he was still in love with Robin was jaw-dropping. the puns on "slap(s)" were amazing... for those are into corny, LoL. But, it WAS a Thanksgiving episode, haha. "Gall bladder burst" was disgusting. I loved the dress Lily worse to Thanksgiving. The trade-offs of the slap at the end made me laugh. Silly Marshall and his attempts at teaching the group life lessons.

House, M.D. (S06E10): funny opening with the guitar. It's nice that Wilson talks to his former patients on and off for years. I liked how Wilson went to House's team and they were all over trying to make House $100 poorer. Strange that House was willing to help Wilson get a liver for that patient. And also a funny line by Wilson over "how do you get a phone call that your brother's dead and then leave the house? does that remind you all-of-a-sudden that you need to pick up dry cleaning?" I was dumbfounded in the end when Wilson was willing to outbid Cuddy so that she wouldn't get to move in with Lucas as quickly as she had planned. Really? That's sooo House. :(

Little People, Big World (S05E13): strange they wanted to do a dude ranch... Jon and Kate totally did that, LoL. I like Jeremy's narration a lot... I've been thinking about it over the past few episodes, but now I'm sure. He just does it really well. When you go on vacation, even as like a teenager, wouldn't you remember your wallet... and ergo your driver's license?? It was a fun vacation for most of the family.

(S05E14) I really don't understand why Matt keeps leaving vacations early. :( I thought it was interesting that he blamed it on the fact that he was "holding the family back." It looked like the kids and Amy were just having such a good time!! I'm sad that Amy is really struggling in her marriage, and that (like Jon and Kate Gosselin) it's being broadcast on national television. At least they don't have the paparazzi problems.

There have been a lot of articles on the internet both sad and happy that this show has ended. But the one I think is most interesting comes from TV Squad where the author basically calls it "Satan's favorite show" and "pure evil." A few days prior, another author on the same site spoke about how the show was really picking up... the kids were forming their own personalities, for instance. I don't agree that the Korean aspect made the show any better than any of the other TLC shows featuring big families.

Cake Boss (S02E09): there's a competitive eating SEASON?!? The Coney Island snake charmer was also over-the-top. Both cakes were neat, but the funny parts of the episode were the girls arguing about who would make Thanksgiving dinner, and the guys trying to out-eat the professionals in cake.

Tuesday:
18 Kids and Counting (S03E25): Michelle was looking nice in the interviews today... maybe a new hairstyle or something. wow this is a recent episode if the place is already decked for Christmas! And it had an amaaaazing ceiling. It weirds me out when people make comments like "I can't imagine having one child" ...really? just one? you can't imagine that at all?

Table for 12 (S02E09): I genuinely love this family! The interaction and the love and the parenting and the family skills... so nice. I think it's interesting that the little kids don't realize that Rebecca is the same age as them. I liked that they got a bus that allowed for Rebecca to stay in her chair, I'm sure that'll make trips a lot easier for the family. And the fact that the older boys are so into using big words is just something I adore, regardless of whether they're trying to sound smart for tv or not.

(S02E10) It was funny to watch Mom and Dad think of things that Meghan was into. This episode is obviously before the fifth birthday one, so why did it air after? ahhhh. The look on Tara's face after one of the big kids took a bite of her grilled cheese sandwich was priceless.

Friday:
Monk (S08E12): caught it live! not often for Friday nights, LoL. $900 grand??!? good grief. Mr. Monk is going camping to schmooze? love it. the whole thing wasn't that interesting... way too much drama and not enough crime stuff. I don't understand why he didn't get reinstated at the end... and was even more baffled by the fact that Monk didn't pay attention, LoL! I did like how he explained the "this is what happened" to the bear... and the bear got bored and walked away, LoL!!

Sunday:
The Simpsons: no new episode this week.

Family Guy (S08E04): funny reference to Cleveland moving, haha. the episode overall was really bad, except for a closing scene where Rita is telling Brian where to put the keys and he has no idea what piece of furniture she is referencing.

There was the almost-live special afterward, which opened with a great rendition of the opening theme song. I was really surprised at the lack of commercials in that segment. I actually wasn't that taken with the skits in it, either, LoL.

(S08E05) For some reason, they ran ANOTHER new episode. um, wtf, Hanna Montana was SO last year. would Chris really consider "practicing kissing" with Meg?? The parents are soooo disrespectful of the kids!!! Stewie got in to see Hanna and then even gets to sing with her? ::cough bullsh!t cough:: I'm glad that the monkey is gone. :)

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother (S05E07): when did it become acceptable to be so openly talking about porn at 8pm on CBS? EASTERN for crying out loud! I LOOOOOOVED that Barney knew Ted would watch a porno and that it would be the one about architecture, haha. And I particularly love that Barney made the message so long ago that he makes a Weekend at Bernie's reference and still believes he'll never be in a real relationship. The fat suit on Barney was kinda funny. LoL, Barney doesn't care about sex anymore?? Fat chance (pun intended)! Of course LazyRobin and LazyBarney would go for getting married, and the reasons were hilarious... "name's too hard to spell... most of the stuff's there already... The stormtrooper in the car was hilarious... as was renting a station wagon to save $25, LoL. I'm glad there was a shot of HottBarney at the end, even though Robin and Barney are no more. And I love how they're always setting up stuff that might come next week or it might not come for months... but the Canadian Variety Show will surely surface again!

Lincoln Heights (S04E09): I am so glad that I didn't have all the Cassie-Charles college drama. My then-boyfriend and I went our separate ways to further our educations in the best places for each of us. And neither of us have ever regretted it. If Cassie and Charles can't suck it up, then move on already. Their on-again, off-again relationship is more than just a little annoying. The PTSD with Nate Ray is an interesting addition to the show. Lizzie was kinda clever in calling the mean girl's bluff, but I think she's starting to ask for trouble all over again. Cassie needs to grow up. I can't believe Lizzie broke-and-entered to get Sylvia's contact information. And why the hell does Cassie keep talking to Sage about crap?? I had a feeling all along that it was the garden making people sick.

(S04E10) Glad we're getting closer to solving the money thing. I have a hard time seeing Charles in the army. Cassie asking Charles to marry her in this way is exactly like Topanga asking Cory all those years ago on Boy Meets World. Eddie trying to right all the wrongs of the world is also getting old. Um, how much more 80s can you get than Tay's shirt when he's playing that song?? The song itself was really quite nice, tho. Lizzie's singing and dancing in detention were out of order, regardless of how it may have reinstated the show. Cassie's "wedding skirt" was really trashy-looking. Her shoes weren't much better. I'm not gonna touch how Lizzie told the mom. Are there always tons of people dressed up to elope at City Hall? That's really weird-looking. But at the same time, both times I went to get my marriage license (hubby forgot his driver's license or something the first time) that area was busy. How did the entire family get together so quickly to get to city hall?? WTF how did so many people get to the house for the "practice ceremony" ???? OF COURSE Charles' dad can get him out of army enlistment. OF COURSE. Who didn't see that coming... besides me? I also didn't think they'd get half the money from Cyd... altho I surely hoped so!

House, M.D. (S06E07): I loved Jordan's hair in the opening scene. LMAO "it's been on your calendar for months" "so has Ramadan." House's new glasses are weird. I don't really understand how they're only 16 and were at that club/concert. I also don't like his new haircut. Cuddy's shirt was bit more low-cut than usual. Cameron was looking oooooold this episode. And Chase and Cameron not knowing what tweets were was awful. I love House's 80s from another century. Reminds me of a great 80s party I went to in grad school where a guy came dressed like he was in his 80s... complete with a cane. I loved the look of love in House's eyes when he and Cuddy were dancing. "expelled from my FIRST med school" hahahahaha. Wilson and the euthanizing was surprising. It's about time we saw Cuddy's baby again. Lucas, however, took me by complete surprise!! House reading Wilson's paper was intriguing... I guess. Jordan never actually doing anything was so pansy. House only goes to international conferences... interesting. Camerons with Chase at the end was weird... she was just odd.

Little People, Big World (S05E09): it was smart of Matt and Amy to have some good rules in place about his cell phone. Jake, as many teens, went waaaaay over on his text limit. Jacob's girlfriend was cute... but he's 12!! I think it's strange to invite her and her parents over that early, LoL. It's crazy that mom collects is every night and the kid STILL went over the text limit! Matt thinks Amy needs time management classes?? and he's angry that she doesn't text him when she's out at a social event?!? Jeremy was acting wise in realizing how big of a problem it was for Jacob to be using the phone in the manner he was. I was really shocked at how defiant he is becoming. He gets his phone taken away for a day, then a week. And he still managed to ring up 8,000 texts, causing a bill from AT&T for like $2700.

(S05E10) Zach didn't have a clue where a pot would be in his own kitchen? I don't really care about soccer, but it was nice to watch the kids be SO excited about the game.

Jon and Kate Plus Eight (S05E20): a "clips" episode, if you will. I liked how they gave Kate a chance to guess what would be picked in each category. "Everyone makes mistakes," done deal. and that's the case with a lot of these... like the blow-ups. LoL on "Daddies have wieners." And I loved that Kate used "I'm in agreeance" very late in the show... I'm guilty of slipping up and using that once in a grad school class, so I appreciate that I'm not the only one. :-p

Cake Boss (S02E05): Buddy does a military cake. 25 sheets? good grief. the woman who requested the dance cake kinda looked like a horse, lol. "and it's a recession!" holy mackerel that's a big plane! Daniella has issues with proportion... again. 4 feet by 8 feet is reallllllllly big. especially for a cake. In the end, it looked more like a parade float than a cake.

Tuesday:
18 Kids and Counting (S03E22): Jessa really seems to be great at the mandolin! Wow, all four of the older girls have been playing the harp for ten years!! I had no idea! Again with not answering directly if there's any potential suitors for the girls, but they did mention that JimBob definitely has a soft spot for his daughters... which makes a lot of old episodes make a little more sense... like when Jill and Jana went to him when they were preparing for their teeth surgery, etc. Jinger doesn't have the love for cooking that Jill and Jana seem to?!? JimBob called Jill a "supermom already" which I thought said a lot. I thought it was a strange three-minute addition to show Jill and Joy going off to babysit, but maybe they just want to show that the kids do get out of the house and do things independently. ...they just went to a farm, so why are they going to see birds at another farm now, LoL? unless they were actually pretty far apart and just aired close together... but I kinda think that since Josh and Anna have been absent lately that these were filmed close together. Dang, I didn't realize that ostrich eggs rivaled cantaloupes in size! I wonder which Duggar didn't try it... ?

Table for 12 (S02E03): The kids are looking a lot older than last season, so there was probably a big gap in filming, LoL. The interviewing of the kids is new, and a nice addition. "I was previously a scout" haha. The oldest two are a riot! For being all out in the project alone, I was pretty happy with Kyle's safety precautions... I was nervous about him in sandals tho. I'm curious as to how dryer lint works as a firestarter, LoL. It is a little frustrating to hear that out of ten kids, only one was helping. Although in their defense, a couple did ask to help, but Dad wasn't ready yet. I was really impressed that he almost had the fire going with just the flint. I'm glad the scary story went over okay in the end... it was a bit intense for four-year-olds, LoL. Not to compare it too much to J&K, but it's nice to see the parents trust each other's judgment.

(S02E04) It was very nice for the kids to get to take part in lessons. Kyle's in his second year of musical theatre camp, Meghan is in her first. And to have random funny moments of the kids was adorable. It's about time we saw a little more of individual kids' issues, like Kyle and Meghan not getting along. Yay for all the kids having a good time with their summer activities. :)

Wednesday:

South Park (S13E13): morning announcements, yay! When I was in fifth grade, there were no auditions. They just gave it to the kid with AD(H)D the job so he was good at something, LoL. Cartman's commentary was interesting, but a little over-the-top by the second point. lmao on the hating of the Smurfs. The Casey Kasem impression was kinda funny. I'm a big fan of Cartman living amidst the Smurfs, that was pretty funny... right up until the brutal murders. :( "Dances with Smurfs" ... really?? how do the kids believe this mess?? Butters peeing on Wendy's front door and then running away with his pants around his ankles was ridonkulus. Cartman's greying around the temples was kinda amusing, but I couldn't figure out who he was supposed to be. "The Smurf Holocaust," um... no. And the way they turn it into Avatar was genius. The weird thing about the morning announcements in this case is that it wasn't clear whether they were televised or just audio... at various parts in the episode the kids were looking at different focal points.

Finale Week!

Sunday:
The Simpsons: the finale for Season 20 just ran. And while it went hand-in-hand with the King of the Hill finale, neither one was all that good and both focused on American crap. It was kinda funny that Ogdenville was representing Mexico in that nobody wanted to live there or eat products from there, and that the citizens would do the junky jobs that Springfield didn't want to finish. The Minnesota/Norway thing was a little confusing, but whatever. I'm curious as to whether Maggie is going to continue to be a talking character (she played a talkie last week and uttered a version of "yes" repeatedly this time), but otherwise there was nothing memorable and this was a crappy season finale.

Family Guy: This was a "founding of Quahog" episode. From the 18th century. Where Stewie is the King and Brian is the court jester. And Peter sleeps with Meg. And Lois's dad wants to feel her up. It was very weird, but at least there were a few funny jokes (albeit of poorly-drawn How I Met Your Mother characters. Not a bad season finale, but definitely not one of the best.

American Dad: Francine and Steve had very little to do with this episode. Hailey and Roger have a contest to see who is more attractive, which ends up being funy since they end up at two different "pig parties" by the end. Stan hangs out with the guys from work, learns about "credit card roulette," and is terribly upset that the guys just knock out people who get in the way. It's kinda disturbing, and I really don't like how lightly the idea od drinking and driving was displayed.

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother: I was eventually able to watch the episode preceding this one, and it was just decent. This one, however, was a fantastic finale, and probably the best one of all shows this season thus far. We finally got the "goat" story, but that ended up being kinda weak. I always seem to like the writing on the show, as it always seems to be damn clever. This week, metaphors were everywhere. The washcloth being Ted's dreams. Marshall's leap being a leap of faith for one and all. I didn't care much for Lily's joke about being pregnant, since I know that'll end up being a storyline soon enough anyway. I also didn't like the bit with Robin and Barney, but that'll eventually clear up. I did like the term "Mosby" and hope to put it into real-life use soon. Lastly, I'm sad about Ted taking a teaching position. Yes, that's how he met "the mother," but geez. "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach" is still true, and is a big put-down for Ted to be forced into academia (for what already appears to be the long-term), which he wasn't hoping for.

Little People, Big World: no new episode this week. In reality, I wonder where the twins will be attending college in the fall.

House, M.D.: off-season

Jon and Kate Plus Eight: off-season, but returns next week! I did see the special 2-minute preview that TLC put up online, and it was kinda traumatizing. Jon and Kate weren't sitting on the same chair they always do, but were interviewed separately this time. The kids turn 5 years old, which is so crazy... I remember when they were two!

Table for 12: the family took a roadtrip to Niagara Falls. A nice 4-day Spring Break trip, about 400-450 miles from their home in New Jersey. Bodily fluids abounded, and the kids had mixed experiences. They hit up a butterfly garden and a water park in addition to the Falls. Nothing too unique about the episode, and it seemed to focus a lot on the family as a whole instead of any specific kids, which was interesting. It was interspersed with Gosselin antics and previews, so I guess that'll start up again soon!

The Secret Life of the American Teenager: off-season, but returning June 22nd!

Lincoln Heights: off-season, and will be moving to Tuesdays at 8pm starting August 4th!

Ahoy matey, we've come to plunder!

So the highlight of the past week was the South Park episode on Wednesday night. While there has been a lot of grief over this season's episodes, I didn't think they were all that bad as a whole. I enjoyed laughing really hard as Cartman forced the French overboard and really thought that the Somalians in the building were "fun" pirates.

Starting back with Sunday, I caught the full FOX lineup, which is something I normally don't do (I avoid that King of the Hill crap). Simpsons was decent, although overdone. And I can't believe Milhouse didn't squeal. The new Sit Down, Shut Up show was REALLY bad. Like, not funny AND stupid. I truly hope it's not the next KOTH. Family Guy was completely uneventful, to the point where I can barely even remember the plot beyond the opening jokes. American Dad was decent, but no real comments there.

Monday was disappointing, since both House and How I Met Your Mother were on hiatus, but I did catch up on Little People, Big World and saw the new episode of Table for Twelve (which I am not consciously trying to watch, but I believe I have caught every episode thus far). LPBW was okay. I'm kinda tired of these "long-lost episodes" and am still completely baffled as why we're still seeing episodes from LAST SUMMER'S VACATION. At least it seems to be September now, and I'm really curious to see what they're going to show about how the twins pick their college(s). Particularly, what sorts of priorities Zach is going to have in choosing a school. Table was about the kids all going to the dentist... very similar to the episodes where Jon and Kate take their brood, but since some of the kids are older, cavities and tooth-pulls are involved. I'm also interested in how they feature Rebecca in the show (the sextuplet with cerebral palsy)... so far it hasn't really been that inclusive, and I'm not sure what sort of message they want to send.

I did catch the Jon and Kate "Go Green" special, which was one of their most boring episodes ever. Yeah, I know the focus was on how they're improving their home and how that will save them $$ in the long run, but I watch the show for the kids and their interactions and the parenting styles. These were not prevalent in this episode, aside from the kids playing with the solar panel boxes and a couple shots with Shoka, one of the dogs.

As far as syndication goes, I caught a lot of second-season Beverly Hills, 90210 this week, including the episodes where Brenda lives with Dylan and when Brenda and Donna go to Paris. These storylines are a bit bland, especially since Steve does nothing but flirt, Kelly takes on this strange motherly role with infant Erin, and Brandon gets jealous of the guy dating Andrea. Seventh Heaven this week was plain, as was King of Queens. I did catch the episode of ER this morning where Doug Ross saves the kid from the sewer pipes and then takes a news helicopter to County General, which is good until you remember how the episode ends. Jeopardy! featured nothing too exciting this week, but I am still entering nightly in hopes of winning that Galapagos Islands cruise with Alex Trebek. Finally, Wheel of Fortune this past week has been ridiculous. Silly contestants = only one puzzle the entire week was solved by someone before I called out the answer (disclaimer: tonight's has yet to air).

No new Duggars. Lincoln Heights, Jon and Kate Plus Eight, The Secret Life of the American Teenager are all off-season. ER has stopped. There was a definite lull in television this week. I have been meaning to catch some Big Bang Theory in hopes of adding it to my weekly list, but it hasn't happened yet. If you have a favorite show that you think I'd love, suggest!
